    Here is how you'd say it correctly:

    "ich habe zweieinhalb Jahre lang in ________ gelebt".

    Now, if it was about the *TOWN* you lived in, you would exchange the verb! Then it would be "gewohnt".

    Yes, we use different words for "to live in", depending whether it is about the country or the village/town

    Unfortunately the 2 previous answers are wrong, they must stem from a babbelfish sort of translating machine.

    Here is how you'd say it correctly:

    You can say: Ich habe in ....... gelebt für 2 1/2 (zweieinhalb) Jahre.

    or also: Ich habe für 2 1/2 Jahre in ......... gelebt.
