Women who work out regularly - what do you do to stay in shape?

What is your regular workout routine? I have been trying to get fit on my own without a personal trainer cuz they are so expensive but I am getting bored with the same old stuff every day, what do you in your workouts that I may be able to incorporate into mine? I walk (fast) every other day (at least) for 4 to 9 miles. I lift free weights on the arms (only graduated from 3 lbs to 5 lbs a few weeks ago) and I do the Bean for crunches/situps. Does anyone out there know of a few more at home workouts that I can spice up my dull routine with? I need help, I get bored easily and am usually a quitter but i have kept this going for 2.5 months now and I DO NOT want to quit, I actually find myself enjoying the walks, I look forward to them. I appreciate any and all suggestions. Thank you.

    Do SPRINTS!!

In only 3 or 4 minutes a day this is absolutely the fastest way possible to get results. I mean you run as hard and fast as you can for the 3 minutes... back and forth in a short distance works best. Find a post, run hard and fast to it, touch it and then run hard the other direction just as fast, touch another mark, and go back and forth for the entire 3 minutes. You'll burn calories even while you're sleeping. If you're busy and too stressed to work out... try it.

I'm only assuming you're doing home workouts, so I won't give you 'gym' advice:)

For cardio, don't just walk. Switch it up every so often- do sprints (GREAT for fat-burning!!), walk in different places, and jump rope... jumping rope for just 15 minutes at a good place can equal jogging a mile.

For toning try to do a circuit of push ups, triceps dips using your couch and a footstool, squats, lunges, and jumping jacks. You could also get exercise bands.

A great product for working out at home are the dumbells that can be adjusted for weight by bowflex (1-250lbs!) With dumbells there are ENDLESS exercise routine options. Be sure to go heavier with your weight too so your body is challenged.

For good abdominal exercises look up muscle & fitness hers or oxygen. Most of those exercises can be done at home.

I have an elliptical trainer at home. I use it three days a week. It is a lot cheaper than a gym membership. You can get a decent one for about 300 dollars. I put my music on while I work out, but you can watch TV, or read, if you find you are bored on it. I also ride my bike to work every day, if the weather permits. I like to mountain bike on the weekends.

I know I'm not a woman, but you need to mix and match. Run. Running will get you somewhere 10 times faster, start doing chinups, or pushups if your into weight training, but if you want to do some cardio, then your best off running, jumping, skipping rope. Walking unless your unable to run will get you nowhere fast - you need to push your cardiovascular system to adapt to harder things so you can get stronger. If your walking, your never going to get better, your just going to stay the same. Intensity is the best way to keep a workout non-boring and get results.

if you really want to continue then try to incorporate sports into the mix. any available in your area. inline skating will do wonders for your butt and legs, plus cardio and abs. swimming is good for everything. got a ywca in your area? in may be a little less convienient, but if you can get into something more fun then you will be more likely to stick with it. that's what I did lost 45 lb in 3 months. have maintained for almost 2 years. almost have a 6 pack...still working on that one.

Sounds like you need a good gym to instruct you in what to do. Good luck and 2 points to me.
