Do you believe in the power of focused intent?

We here in the west are beginning to understand the simple and pure power of intent, of focus in our lives as progressive spiritual beings.

No matter the reference of background, we are now receiving the proof so many minds require in order to put into practice making conscious choices.

Here is a link to Dr. Emoto, who has shown repeatedly the power of intent upon the literal structure of water.

In that the human body is roughly 50 to 65 % water (45 quarts), what bearing do you then think that your firmly held beliefs have upon your health, your experience of your life, when something this simple and basic within each of us is being effected every moment?

Is it worth at least careful consideraton of your spoken words?

thoughts, considerations?

    Hi MV,

Such an important question! Important to Peace.....The dawning has begun in my consciousness about the power of focused intent. Placing my intention and my attention on what is good for the whole in any given situation, void of harmful intent, blasts love out in the open circuits, receivable by unblocked, courageous hearts everywhere. Every thought counts, add them together they expand, grow, like all of Nature's way. How long will it take us to undo unreasoned fear? I am learning, unlearning, expanding, connecting practicing courage, uniting with the Power beyond the world of symbols.

I have his first two books after watching What The Bleep, and it Really made me want to use Love as my compass, careful of my thoughts always..

    Love feels so complete.......

    Peace wise friend.............

I remember the movie My Life with Michael Keaton. He was dying of cancer and the acupuncturist he was sent to see was able to tell him that all he had to do was deal with the feelings he was holding against his father. Those feelings were feeding his cancer.

I did not fully understand what he meant at the time (1993), but I kept seeing that scene in my mind over and over years later. Now I get it. Our body is the storage place for all of our thoughts and feelings. If we don't do an inventory and release the negative ones, they will destroy us through disease. On the other hand, positive and happy thoughts can lead to health, happiness, and longevity.

So, yes, I do believe in the power of focused intent. I know this is only one example, but it has been a powerful one for me.

    Yes...focused intent.

Learning to use our attention like a spotlight or a laser or a microscope, binoculars, or magnifying glass.

Learning to choose our thoughts with discrimination and finesse.

Learning to choose what we will believe or not.

Learning to take a 'ghost of a chance' and loving without boundaries.

    Who will teach us?

The spirit is willing, but the ego is distracted.

    Who will be the focus?

  • 1 decade ago

In the East it has been known for ages. I hear it more frequently nowadays. (Dr. Dyer. "The Power of Intent" etc.)

In Buddhism the most important thing is the true intent of the person and not what they say. Intention is everything. In Japan there is a saying..."A woman's determination will move boulders". Meaning that her focused intent will create the energy and power to move insurmountable obstacles.

So to answer your Q, YES! I really believe in the power of focused intent. (However and whatever you call it in any language)

    Thanks for your Q

I even have awareness of Wicca (it become have been i began from) and Paganism yet i'm no longer Wiccan, i'm an eclectic Witch. Herbs are of the Earth, specific they have skill on their own. Even without somebody putting reason into it, they nonetheless have specific properties. The magickal properties, i think, have been consistently there and by way of trial and blunder, our great ancestors got here across what each and each become solid for...the two that, or they have been given the innovations from their classes or the God and Goddess...or a mixture of those issues. some human beings have had reviews the place we've been interested in a particular plant and intuitively used it for a particular purpose and later found out what it is properties have been...and our reason become intuitively aligned with the documented properties. The herb/plant calls out to us and our instinct can instruction manual us...and that i'm valuable it fairly is a factor of ways we discovered too. A wand it fairly is made out of wood, has skill in it in the previous somebody places skill in it. it fairly is from a tree and a tree is of the Earth. A candle creates a flame, the hearth ingredient is in nature. actually, i think that each and every person issues organic carry inherent skill. i think that when human beings say those issues are basically kit, it has a tendency to be somebody who has worked with them for a whilst and has discovered to artwork with none kit...yet at that element, they are working from interior of themselves (their finger turns into their wand) and/or utilising kit astrally. I stick to the concepts and ideology of Scott Cunningham. specific those issues are 'basically' kit, meaning that they are able to help us out alongside the way yet we are able to additionally be triumphant without them...yet each and every thing in nature is alive, all of it holds skill, reason and purpose.

Our Perceptions guide our Thoughts and it is our Thoughts which thus guide our Actions..may I be permitted to respond from a Buddhist perspective..? Your question relates to intent which has prompted my response.

Buddhist practise is very concerned with Intent and one of the 7 factors of Enlightenment is Concentration..the Intent of the practise then is just this Concentrated Effort, known as Right Effort as one of the Eight Factors in the Noble Eightfold Path..the practise itself is based on Effort and Persistence..in Pali..Viriyena dukkhamacceti..

In the words of the Buddha, it is with Effort and Persistence that people gain release from the world..effort and persistence then are our roots which pull us to Nibbana..

Should we then ignore the Buddha's own advice..? To do so would be Unwise..Should we then concentrate to the exclusion of all else..? This also would be unwise..rather an holistic approach would be more beneficial..the Middle Path...concentrated effort incorporating all the Eight Factors of the Path in concert being Mindful of our Intent, Mindful of our progress and Mindful of others..

Mindfulness, discernment, energy, tranquility, concentration, equanimity and rapture..these are the 7 factors of enlightenment and are our guide on the journey...patience, harmlessness, Loving Kindness and sympathy are the method to incorporate Mindfulness so that we protect others and by this protection, we protect ourselves...

It is by the pursuit, development and cultivation of Mindful practise with effort and persistence that all Beings are given validity and worth...our purposeful Intent to protect rather than harm others so that all may be given the opportunity to be free of suffering and thus be given the opportunity to grow and develop..all deserve such opportunity...

I do not believe in intent..for Buddhists belief is irrelevent...practise is far more beneficial..

Let us concentrate on giving this opportunity to all..

    Some thoughts on Intent from...

    A Buddhist...

    That was so awesome.

I was blown away by this comment from a teacher...water has the consciousness of water..i.e. it knows how to be H2o....

That was one of the openings of my understanding...I found this to be so profound..I pondered for days on this truth. A rock knows how to be a rock etc

All thought releases chemicals into the system....our mass being mostly water is then..flooded with ' the outcome of our thoughts..

    cheers

    Shakti,

    It's a small psychic world... :-)

My best friend bought his book only two or three weeks ago, and was parading it & extolling its virtues to even my Dad (a staunch scientist).

Yes intention does seem to affect, to mould the world around us...

Thank you for the timely reminder.

May we all continue to lift it to ever higher heights...

    Individually, collectively...

Make this world a better place... :-)
