Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wishes to lay a wreath @ ground zero...we refuse...who else thinks he should be allowed?
He's the bringer of death to all Israelites/the world(sarcasm), as our media/government tells us. Please explain to me why he should not be allowed to pay respect @ the very place many of our current problems manifested themselves. It is ridiculous.
We look like/are the bad guys (to the rest of the world) in this instance. Please explain, with logic, why he should be banned from paying respect (even if false to his heart, though I doubt that) to those that died on 9/11/01. I have the distinct feeling of being on the losing team, being on the "wrong" side in this instance. This event makes us look like a$$holes to the rest of the world. Please tell me why we're right in doing such a thing.

Yes I think he should. He's obviously said some questionable things in his career. But in this instance all he wants to do is show respect to the victims of 9/11. I don't see what the big deal is at all.
The man is not tied to 9/11, he wasn't even in office when 9/11 happened.

First of all, the government did not deny his request. Those in charge of his security when he is here (NYPD and US Secret Service) did. The reasons given were that the site is closed due to construction and it would be a security problem.
Maybe that's legitimate.
Personally, do I think he should go?- no. But legally, if security was granted, I don't believe the government could step in and say no. A visiting Head of State has rights too. Even if he, or for that matter any other US citizen, wanted to put a wreath at the site in honor of the terrorists, as a previous answer suggests- that is his or that citizens right. Unfortunately, in this case, Free Speech is absolute!!
It should also be noted that the government has made no official statement regarding this (at least not that I have seen). The only people making official statements are those running for the presidency. They're "outrage" smacks of politics and nothing else to me.

He is coming here to go to the UN, we must let him into the country for that reason. Perhaps, as someone else noted, his wreath laying at the 9/11 site would be in tribute to the terrorist, but since we are only guessing at that, I would say, why not let him pay the tribute. We can interpret it anyway we choose, no matter what he may say later! If we allow him to do it & then make a big deal about it on the TV news & in the newspapers about how fine this was for him to show such respect to our losses of 9/11. We don't have to let him say anything, better if he doesn't, then when he gets home he can try to explain it to his people!

think of approximately it. The 9/11 hijackers have been sunni muslims. Ahmadinejab is a shi'ite muslim. in case you haven't any longer observed, the two sects of Islam are having a civil conflict perfect now with Iraq interior the middle. permitting Ahmadinejab to place a wreath on the WTC web site might rather piss off Osama.

Anyone who wants to pay respects to the dead is ok by me. Remember, Reagan visited an SS graveyard during his presidency.
Iran immediately offered condolences on 9/11, as did many other countries you would consider an enemy.
The first to step forward to offer help was New Zealand.

Well considering the fact the 1000s of Iranians actually took to the streets and mourned for the dead of 9/11 (unlike Sunni Muslims in the Mideast who celebrated in the streets) I'd say he should probably be allowed to do it.

If he weren't making a speech at the UN, I wouldn't let him in the country let alone visit the 9/11 site. He doesn't exactly have the best interest of this country at heart or do you think he has?

our resposibility is to drive him back and forth between the airport and the un. stopping at ground zero puts him at further risk of assasination. how would we look to the rest of the world then?
