Its an easy way to determine how much of sth acidic or alkaline is in a sample. With a ph Indicator addet you add so much of the appropriate opposite that you get a colourchange. Usually repaeted twice more for precision: Advantage is ease, disadvantage is a necessary precision and cleanliness necessary, everything must be really clean to start. Plus its only usable with solubles that show an indicatable property, pH or ionic.

titration can be used for many things. The concentrations of certain components of a solution can be found, pH as stated above me, determining equilibrium, and so on. It is a pretty handy method to know.
