I've been in healthcare for the last decade and I know plenty of people that have lived for decades with End Stage Renal Disease. The key is adhering to your diet and dialysis.

First of all, I am sorry to hear about your fathers condition.
As for the passing on part, it depends on a lot of other factors.
First is his lungs filling with fluids? Is he on a ventilator? Is he conscious? How badly is his other kidney? A person can live via dialysis for years. But, if his lungs are filling with fluids, and he is unconscious, or his breathing is labored; (check his Oxygen saturation level, and if it is going down steadily), he may not have very long to live( hours ). What that means is that his lungs cannot process his oxygen, and his blood is becoming toxic he is slowly loosing the ability to get oxygen to his brain, which could result in damage.
Talk to his doctor, and see what they say. Usually they have a good idea, though I would not give up, prayer is powerful, and miracles can happen

It depends on the condition of the other kidney. But if the other one shuts down it is usually with in a week. Sorry

If they have both shut down abou a week or so. They can go on dialysis and prolong that time by several years.

Sorry to say 1 week or less. The fluid becomes toxic in the blood stream because it cannot escape. That is when the swelling and bloating sets in.
