As an ex-christian converted to being a Muslim, can I answer both?

    1. Christianity teaches honesty and holds to the commandments etc but if you choose not to be Christian any more, do those in authority within the church care? If you decide to ditch being a Muslim, they care and would do everything they can to prevent it from happeneing. i.e. the person assigned to be next to you from the day you convert, your guardian, will get into serious trouble and may even be fined!

    2. Islam teaches us that Allah, the angels, heaven & hell etc are too fantastical, too infinite, too tremendous to even imagine. Allah (or the prophet pbuh & the angels) CAN'T have faces such as the artwork we see in Christianity. They are huge and could never be represented by any human hand, to even try is an insult. How would Jesus be blue eyed and golden haired??? Geography & anatomical studies dictate this would be impossible!!

I'm a Muslim, and I think that a lot of the Christian morals and traditions mentioned in the Bible should be practiced more often among the Christians that I know. Just off the top, the Bible says that women should keep some form of modesty and yet they still go to the beaches 80% naked. But yet, they still do try some of the times and I admire that. During Christmas, they seemingly try to be on their best behavior. If it were for the good deeds, I would have thought better. But the reasons behind this are usually to gain physical gifts or to show off to one another.

And to the people saying that Muslims taught you how to make bombs and kill people: let me just tell you that terrorism has no religion. Look at what happened in 1995 during the Kosovo War. Slobodan Milošević (the Serbian leader) killed tons of Muslims and yet America didn't send their marines to assassinate him. Look at EOKA (National Organization of Cypriot Fighters) and how they virtually killed every Muslim on the island of Cyprus, and yet they were never labeled as "Christian Terrorists" around global media. Osama bin Laden no more represents Islam than Timothy McVeigh represents Christianity. What you see in Iraq everyday on TV is not how Muslims who live there always are. Those are the people who have been emotionally disturbed and are upset for the destruction of their country and the loss of millions of loved ones. Those are the people who have taken arms and say "If you don't leave us alone right now, we will make you leave ourselves." They don't represent Islam. They represent Iraqi freedom.

Honestly, I admire the way Muslims dress. They dress in modest apparel. Christianity for the most part has followed the trends of the world and there seems to be no difference in the standard today, or for that matter, no standard at all.

I do not condone the use or compelling of the Burqa worn by Muslim women.

I am simply trying to answer your question as you asked.

We both have a common heritage in Classical Antiquity. The Gods of Olympus were worshipped by everyone from East to West, before we became divided by these new religions. If you want world peace we need to return to the Gods of civilisation.

I'm a Muslim from a Christian background, but I'd say that the thing I admire about SOME Christians is their ability to forgive those that wrong them, like the Amish in particular.

Majority of Christians do not ask questions with intention to learn about Islam but make very bad and hateful comments about Islam and Muslims. There comments are based on what they hear on tv, from their church ministers or from uneducated friends which are almost all based on lies, derogatory jokes and false propaganda against Islam and Muslims perceived as rival religion because more and more Christians are converting as Muslims in Europe and America They are too hostile towards Muslims. For this reason, Yahoo Answer doesn't attract well informed Muslims to give them replies. Many of we Muslims answer with correct knowledge, but I feel they do not believe any thing we say and tend to hold on to their pre-conceived false heresays. Except few I feel most of Christians do not really intend to know the truth.

I suggest that there should be a separate discussion forum being sub section of Religion & Spirituality named as

'Learn About Islam' so only people who are serious to learn about Islam ask us questions and we will educate them to the best of our abilities. There should be rules written on top of this section saying 'Questions welcomed only who are interested to learn about Islam' and not questions intended to argue, criticize or putting down Islam. Such people must be directed to ask their questions on Religion and Spirituality only.

On Forum www.beliefnet.com this arrangement works very well. And there are very well knowledgeable and highly educated Muslims are giving true information to people interested in Islam. They have moderators who will delete the bad questions or advise them to ask such questions on discussion forum only.

Hi I like this question.I used to be a Christian many years ago.I was very involved in church.I would say that I learned about having faith and believing in miracles and actually expecting my prayers to be answered.I still carry these things with me today and I am greatful for always having God in My Life.As a Muslim I think that I follow a stricter set of the same rules that that were taught to me In church.

i'm muslim, so the good things i learned from the christians is their blind faith, as long as they love jesus,(peace be upon him) they don't question the discrepancies in the scriptures. That statement i got from a woman pastor when she was in bible school, she said their professor revealed to them the many discrepancies and more than half dropped the course, those who remained were bc of their conviction and unconditional love to jesus (peace b upon him)

I may not agree with all of the Muslim's beliefs, but I do admire the rich culture they have through their traditions (fasting, praying, etc)
