Liberal ? -- Under 40 ? --- Think You 'Know' Recent Political History ? -- Can You 'Handle' The TRUTH ?

Before misleading and hateful left-wing websites , there was TRUTH . Before Left-Wing Liberals began BLAMING America for the world's problems , there was REALITY .

Read this piece that one CANADIAN felt compelled to write after watching America get trashed and bashed by foreignors . THEN , tell me . . . Does it Cause You To Reconsider Now That You Know The TRUTH ?

Broadcast June 5, 1973 - CFRB Radio, Toronto, Ontario

The United States dollar took another pounding on German, French and British exchanges this morning, hitting the lowest point ever known in West Germany. It has declined there by 41% since 1971 and this Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least-appreciated people in all the world. As long as sixty years ago, when I first started to read newspapers, I read of floods on the Yellow River and the Yangtse. Well, who rushed in with men and money to help? The Americans did, that's who.

They have helped control floods on the Nile, the Amazon, the Ganges and the Niger. Today, the rich bottom land of the Mississippi is under water and no foreign land has sent a dollar to help. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy, were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of those countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.

When the franc was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. And I was there. I saw that.

When distant cities are hit by earthquakes, it is the United States that hurries into help... Managua Nicaragua is one of the most recent examples. So far this spring, 59 American communities have been flattened by tornadoes. Nobody has helped.

The Marshall Plan... the Truman Policy... all pumped billions upon billions of dollars into discouraged countries. And now, newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent war-mongering Americans.

I'd like to see one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplanes.

Come on... let's hear it! Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tristar or the Douglas 10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all international lines except Russia fly American planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or a women on the moon?

You talk about Japanese technocracy and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy and you find men on the moon, not once, but several times ... and safely home again.

You talk about scandals and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even the draft dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are right here on our streets in Toronto, most of them... unless they are breaking Canadian laws... are getting American dollars from Ma and Pa at home to spend here.

When the Americans get out of this bind... as they will... who could blame them if they said 'the hell with the rest of the world'. Let someone else buy the bonds, let someone else build or repair foreign dams or design foreign buildings that won't shake apart in earthquakes.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both of them are still broke. I can name to you 5,000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble.

Can you name to me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

Our neighbours have faced it alone and I am one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their noses at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles.

I hope Canada is not one of these. But there are many smug, self-righteous Canadians. And finally, the American Red Cross was told at its 48th Annual meeting in New Orleans this morning that it was broke.

This year's disasters... with the year less than half-over... has taken it all and nobody... but nobody... has helped.

Thanks brother. I have seen that before but its always nice to read.

I wish our leftist brethren could speak the way this Canadian did about their own damn country.

So, what is the question? Or are you just trying to prove some convoluted point? When Katrina happened, we got all sorts of monetary aide, and even some help on the ground, or at least offers to help, from other countries. The same goes for the oil spill in the gulf. Are you suggesting that we should stop helping people out from under a disaster? It is our duty as HUMANS of reasonable means to help the less fortunate whenever we can. That is not to say we should help beyond our means, which we may do some times.

There is 2 things in particular that most people lie about regarding recent history. One, they ignore the Global Cooling scare and the reasons why Global Warming was first promoted (Global Warming is a myth created by Margaret Thatcher because she was trying to get a union to stop striking). Second, the left and right always claim that Ronald Reagan cut the size of government. He did nothing of the sort. Reagan would increase a program's budget 6% instead of the usual 10% and the left would complain that he was "slashing" that program.

These are the main distortions (well, except for Waco).

You can add this to the what are liberals so upset about list.

Jay Leno wrote this; it's the Jay Leno we don't often see....

"The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source right?

The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the president. In essence 2/3 of the citizenry just isn't happy and want a change.

So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, ''What we are so unhappy about?''

Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter? Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job? Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?

Maybe it is the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state? Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter? I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.

Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family and your belongings. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90 percent of teenagers own cell phones and computers.

How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world? Maybe that is what has 67 percent of you folks unhappy.

Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S., yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks?

The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me? Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show?

Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad?

Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the "Media" told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day.

Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go.

They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an ''other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable'' discharge after a few days in the brig.

So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans? Say what you want but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner?

The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by "justifying" them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane!

Stop buying the negativism you are fed everyday by the media. Shut off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad.

We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative."

"With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, "Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"

    Jay Leno

Thank you so much for this article...I must have missed it the first time around, as it is new to me.

It made my eyes well up.

The wonderful feeling of pride was short lived however. As soon as I started reading the comments from the left, reality set in to the fact that NOTHING will ever get those negative people to admit the truth about America.

No matter what you think about the war in Iraq, America has done a thousand fold more good in the world than harm.

An accomplishment those who have so much disdain for their country, will never be able to claim.

PS..to quote the guy below, you ARE the man, dude....keep up the fight.

Thanks! It's good to know someone appreciates us!

If you listened to President Bush address the UN this week, he said that we currently donate 1/2 of the world's food assistance.

He also wants to double our current donations to help countries who suffer from malaria and AIDS - from 15 billion to 30 billion. Yeah, American dollars.

I have been proud to be an American as long as I can remember and I want to encourage us to support President Bush as he continues to help others through us. We are so blessed, how can we not?

It's sad that it takes an outsider to realize how much our country has sacrificed for others. Great post Earnest.

  • 1 decade ago

Over 40 and yes, I know the history.

I think Colon Powell, said it best at the UN, (rough rephrase)

"For all we(the US) have done for so many countries, we have never asked for anything in return, accept a piece of land to bury our own.

So, we really care what others think of us, face it, they do not like us. Not the UN nor the World Court to name a few biggies.

We are the ones who need to like us, so we remain the country God intended us to be.

Thanks for that Earnest! I remember being taught in school what an honorable, distinguished country I am priveleged to be living in. Yes, I know all the good America has done and I am proud to be an American.

So Chi--I don't think this is a "Bush" question. But thanks for trying to change the subject.

    Wow.

This was a good read. Thank you for presenting it. It seems quite obvious to me, and hopefully to everyone else, that when it comes to mass populations, there is no such thing as an absolute. In other words, it is heartening to me to see my northern neighbors aren't all "America-hating" people that the media and mostly the extremists would have us believe.

I certainly never believed it, and I've met some fine upstanding Canadians (mostly soldiers). God bless us all.

There is hope for us all, yet.

    Great read.

Too bad there aren't more people like that in Canada today.
