Doesn't it seem like atheists and agnostics get along better than Christians do with each other?

Even though almost all atheists and agnostics have differing points of view, I have yet to be flamed by either for my beliefs (or lack there of) where Christians often argue amongst themselves over seeming meaningless details in the bible. Why is that?

It's simple actually... Christian beliefs stem from something they have been taught they have to believe for salvation and since those "rules" aren't consistent throughout the different denomination and sects, they end up arguing amongst themselves over what the "rules" are.... With Atheist and Agnostics, we believe what we believe through our own experience and research, but we aren't accountable to a supposed "higher being" if we are wrong (at least we know we aren't), so we don't drivel over the small stuff.

In my opinion, the problem is not their beliefs, but their implementation of those beliefs. All Christians believe that Christ came to this world to save Everyone from hell, but that is where it ends, then you have a myriad of differing views of how that is suppose to be done. Too many to get into here. If they would focus on the saving part and not whether or not mine is better than your way, they could do a great deal more for the world.

I also believe that the great majority of the "Christian believing" world is hypocritical and does NOT practice what they believe.

Big button for me, and because I could write a book about it, and don't want to boar you here, I won't get on a soap box about it.

Just ask any business owner that has had dealings with a pronounced Christian business owner and they will say that when you have a person using their religious beliefs as a selling tool, you should put their hand on your wallet and back for the door.

I live in Oklahoma and that is considered the buckle of the bible belt in the U.S. and that is a very common statement here.

Now with all that said, I am a Christian, I just don't brow beat people over the head when they don't believe what I do, that is what makes my country the best in the world, to me. : )

Well, the thing is, agnostics and atheists do not have complex beliefs like christians do. They don't have to take anything on faith, and what they believe is quite simple. On the other hand, christians have to take many things on faith, many fine details from the Bible that tend to contradict each other and don't make much sense when matched with the real world. When you have to believe in thousands of details, it's a lot easier to disagree with someone with very similar beliefs, but if you just believe one blanket statement, it's not so easy.

Of course, that might not be the entire explanation. It has also been shown that, on average, a higher intelligence and education tends to be associated with more abstract beliefs as to the existence of God, including atheism and agnosticism. And more intelligent people might also find it easier to get along with each other, so a correlation would show up between not believing in God and being peaceful and compassionate towards others.

Maybe because everybody that say that they are saved aren't saved. Maybe everybody that say tha they are wise are not wise. Maybe everybody that say that they have understanding, they don't have understanding. They are busy coming to their own understanding whereas the scripture has told us to pray for understanding if we lack understanding. We are suppose to search the scriptures, line word with word and precept with precept. The scripture don't contradict itself, it is us that don't understand. We should never argue his word, but to leave it there until we come back with good patience and reproof of God's word. yes, I agree that Christians do argue the word a lot. But even though they argue the word a lot, it won't be long before God will confirm his word so plain until a baby can understand. God will not have his children ignorant. And yet we may still have some proud Christians or shamed Christians that wont accept the truth once it has been confirmed. Remember this also. Satan's desire is to turn the saints against one another as well. Everybody don't have the spirit of God that attends church. So a division is expected to take place in the house of God. How do we know the things of God unless we have the spirit of God?

I'd say that Atheists derive great comfort with being around like minded people. There are a lot of Atheists out there. I don't often run into fellow Buddhist but do enjoy their company, more.

Christians may have different beliefs but so will Atheists, they just seem less willing to explore them and actually dive into it.

i'm an atheist and my brother is a Catholic missionary...i will see him going into seminary some day. as quickly as we party we don't communicate approximately faith. of direction we get into discussions approximately social matters which includes abortion and gay rights in spite of the shown fact that it by no skill escalates to the element the place it hurts our dating with one yet another. we are able to try this by skill of no longer taking offense to something the different says and perchance taking under consideration what the different says. no one can decide for a individual's faith. tell her that and that if God skill so which you would be an ardent believer that he will practice you the way...or something alongside those lines. or you may desire to apply the bible...practice her Matthew 5:22-"yet whosoever shall say 'Thou fool' would be susceptible to hell fireplace." different than that i do no longer probable know what to declare for you...you may desire to continuously stop speaking to her yet that's slightly harsh. desire you discover something to help you to out.

Yes, well nothing meshes nicely with nothing. Something, on the other hand, can take innumerable forms, so conflict with those who believe something else are inevitable. Of course it is the clearly stated will of God that His followers "all may be one". But the will of God has tragically been overridden by Protestantism and its manmade, unbiblical tradition of sola scriptura, which guarantees ongoing fragmentation and doctrinal chaos. The will of God still reigns however in the one true Church founded by Jesus Christ, which teaches the fullness of truth in unity, throughout the world and across twenty centuries.

I have had many people argue with me over small issues. I have been treated so badly at times. Live and let live works for me. Its also in the Bible, not that any of my Christian brothers and sisters have read it...Let he that is Holy, be Holy still...Let he that is unjust be unjust still...Rev 22.11. Can't we all just get along...?

Some of them live to feel superior to everyone else, so they even attack people who have the *same* beliefs as them. It's the childish "my belief in Jesus is better than YOUR belief in Jesus!" syndrome.

It's time I flamed ya, then - you big ditherer.

Is that fence comfortable? They say there's nothing an agnostic can't do if you really doesn't know whether he believes in it or not.

    Etc.
