Voter ID cards are issued to the persons whose names appear the the voters list. Normally, the district adminsitration renews the voters list every year. When the elections are around, the process willl be repeated. If your name is not there in the voters list, you can fill in the prescribed form (available with the revenue officials) and apply for inclusion of your name in the voters list. Once the name is included, you will be given an voters ID card, which is a multi purpose identity card. This can be used for all government/bank transactions.

The easiest way to register to vote is to go to www.declareyourself.com because the application is online and there is and FAQ section if you have any questions.

Some states do not issue voter id cards. To find out if your state does, you can visit your state's webpage which can be found here: http://www.declareyourself.com/index.php?option=co...
