Did my son overdose on Tums?

I had heartburn in the middle of the night and took some Tums. The bottle was nearly empty and I accidently left it in reach of my 2 year old. As far as I can guess, there were about 10-12 tablets left. When I got up this morning, the bottle was empty! I think my son ate them. The bottle says nothing about overdoses, and doesn't have a childproof cap. The maximum dose is 7 tablets a day, for an adult. He seems fine, and is eating his breakfast. Is 5 extra tablets enough to overdose? I don't want to take him to the ER if it isn't serious, or if they will just send me home. Anyone know anything about this?

This is not the place to ask about an overdose! Are you going to sit and wait for an answer from someone most likely having no training in any related field. Time is of the essence. Call 911. PS. I noticed you asked this 17 hours ago. If you are not dead now you will not have an accute death. Maybe organ damage for later.

I would call Poison Control just to be sure. My daughter took some vitamin c pills at that age and they were most helpful. Their number is 1-800-222-1222.

You should call poison control there is such a thing as calcium carbonate overdose but I don't know how much one would have to take.
