my Kenmore refrigerator wont dispense Ice anymore. Moter hums but nothing comes out?

sounds like the silenoid is stuck

Update:

I didn't mean that it wouldn't make ice. That's and easy one to figure out. It makes ice but when I try to DISPENSE it from the door it just hums and nothing DROPS into my glass..I rinsed out basket so I know its not iced over. something is wrong with circuit board or motor that runs the dispenser. Anyone have this problem and have it repaired?

before going thru all the hoops these other "pros" have suggested,, try shaking the heck out of the cube box,, or just dump it out!! you could have created a tunnel at the bottom of the ice where the auger is to dispense the ice.. happens when you open the door a lot in the summer!! the ice may just be stuck up there!!!

A model number would be very helpful here. But anyways if your i.m. is not making ice, yes it could be a kinked waterline, and yes it could be a frozen waterline. My question for you is, does your referidgerator have water as well as ice? I am assuming so, It could also be a clogged line, but also check the water valve. The water valve has the water line inlet and outlet. It is located in the back down below. To find it, follow the copper, Poly or stainless steel waterline from the wall to the back of the fridge. The water valve is about the size of the palm of an adult's hand. Maybe five to eight inches. There are two wires plugged into it. You could unplug the valve and shut the water off to the fridge and remove both water lines going to it. Pay attention where the inlet and outlet lines are located you don't want to reverse them when you put them back on. The two wires don't matter, you can plug them in reversed order and it will not damage the valve. But I would recomend replacing the valve (42-50 dollars) and the check your waterline to the fridge to make sure the water is flowing. Before you replace the valve though, I would unplug the fridge for 24 hours and put all of your food in an alternative fridge or coolers, if the is not possible use a hair dryer to defrost the lines if they are frozen, if all else fails, purchase a new ice maker, they are usually less than 150 dollars. Good luck

Another problem might be that the line to the freezer got frozen. That just happened to my neighbor. She had maintenance come out and fix it. But if you don't have that luxury then you might want to call Sears. If anything they might give you some advise. If it's a newer fridge you may still be under warranty. If all else fails defrost your freezer. That sucks but it could fix the problem. IF that is the problem. Good luck.

We had the same problem.Found out that the water pump hose was kinked. Straightened it out and it started working.

Marcia F is probably correct, but if that isn't your problem, make sure the water line is not clogged.
