Baby pushing against back of ribcage?

I'm 36 weeks and going to see my midwife today, so I'll ask her about this, but i was wondering if anyone else had the feeling of their baby pushing at the back of their ribs? Is it even possible? My first two tended to stay under the front of my ribcage, but this one wants to spread out as much as she possibly can. LOL. So, is this feeling the baby, or just middle backache/strained muscles?

Update:

I know that she's not breech as my midwife did an exam and we've found her heads down. I just wish she'd keep all her body parts close by until she decides to make her entrance. Then she can spread out to her hearts content. LOL

i guess anything is possible. it sure feels uncomfortable when they move into akward positions. my gyno had said my son was pressing against my diaphram. i couldnt get a deep breath, he manipulated the baby, and it was instant relief.

Have your midwife make sure your baby isn't breech. I had that experience and I also felt like the baby was actually pushing against my ribs. Anyway, with the vaginal exam doc said all was as it should be. In my 37th week he did an ultrasound because of my high blood pressure and was surprised to find baby was breech. I went into labor before we could even try to fix it. Turns out he was wedged between the V in my rib cage and turning wouldn't have worked anyway. But had I known earlier I may have been able to do something to help him turn before he got stuck!

you could try to get him to move into a new position... maybe get on your fours and rock

massage and see if he moves into a place more comfy for you
