My landlord will not fix anything nor will he let me get someone else to. What can I do?
The shower has been running since April and was made worse when one of the maintenance men came by past Saturday to "fix" it. Said was out dated, put back together (half-way as it is leaking EVERYWHERE!), & I have not seen nor heard from anyone no matter who I call since then. What can I do??? Isn't there a "help" line or something? Thanks for your time looking at my question.
As I said, he will not let me NOR anyone else come in to fix it. And yes, it IS his responsibility as it says in the lease. He got pissed that I fixed the kitchen sink from doing this.

It,s the landlords responsibility to fix the problem my question is though are you paying the water or is the landlord If he's paying don't worry about it if your paying don't move because if you signed a lease you are liable for loss rent instead think about going on a rent strike what happen is you file with a municipal court and the rent goes into a escrow account that nether you or the land lord can access and wen the problem is fixed then the landlord gets he's rent

Do NOT take anything out of your rent payment, the owner can give you a 3-day notice for non payment of rent and you'll end up getting sued. Write down how many times you have contacted him and send him a written final rqest to repair the problem letting him know that if within 5 or so business days the problem is not fixed you will take him to court to recover the money you spent on hiring someone. If he has ANY sense he will react, if he does not act, hire someone and take the owner to small claims court.

Hire someone to fix the problem. Take this amount out of the next rent payment. Make sure you give the landlord a receipt for the repair. This will hold up in small claims court if they decide to fight you on this.

You can move or you can try to fix the shower yourself.
If it has been running since April I can almost guarantee you that not only is the washer shot but the seat as well Probably cost you less than 5 bucks to fix it yourself. If you don't know how, look it up on line. It's not too difficult.
Personally, I hate plumbing so I'd just move. But that's me. Just an idea. Good luck.

Read your lease. Hope you have a signed lease! Property maintenance is usually the responsibility of the owner, "ghetto lord" by the sound of your question.
As mentioned, fix it yourself or hire it done and deduct it from your rent. Keep a receipt for yourself, give ghetto guy the copy!

I think that most of these answers are pretty good and my advice is a combo of all, but I would start a paper trail to cover your ***. I would get all my facts straight before you stop or short pay your rent. If he isn't fixing this easy problem, just imagine what else isn't getting fixed!

I would google your local city housing council or organization for help. There are laws (every city is different) but your landlord IS responsible for repairs and he cannot tell you that it isn't going to be fixed. You can sue him for that or not pay your rent!

You should have a better housing beaura or something similar. I think that there should be a local agency to report him. If you talk to other fellow tennants, get a group going and that might help.

Call your state Housing Developement Authority and ask them what is in your legal rights. I called em once and they told me what to do.
There are certain things they MUST do to rent or lease.
