The recommended length of time following a miscarriage before attempting to again conceive is a subject for debate. Many physicians recommend three months.
A women can get pregnant again as soon as the pregnancy hormone leaves her body, and ovulation resumes. It is best to wait at least until after the first period.

You can get pregnant anytime after a miscarriage but my doctor told me to wait after I had about 3 good periods that way my body can strengthen again. A miscarriage takes a lot out of you so I would wait several months. Also, after a miscarriage you are very fertile.

It is possible to get pregnant again immediately after a miscarriage. Women have gotten pregnant even before their first period following a miscarriage. That is because your hcg levels (pregnancy hormone) do not have to be at 0 before you can ovulate. You can ovulate as early as two week after the miscarriage begins. My advice is to have sex as soon as you start seeing stretchy clear cervical mucous. And do it every other day for 10 days after that. This is your most fertile period. Good Luck!

The Doctor could recommend 4 to 6 weeks until you could have sex again and 6 months until you try to get pregnant again, just to give your body enough time to get back to normal. I personally had a miscarriage and became pregnant 3 weeks after! Yup, and thankfully everything turn out to be okay.

As I'm reading all the answers, it's amazing to see how different the advice is on this. My doctor said to sit it out a month. Once I miscarried, it took four weeks to get my period.. and then I waited a full cycle before I started to try again. Best of luck to you!! Here's to 2008 babies for everyone trying!

My doctor recommended waiting one normal cycle -- but said it would be ok if I didn't. I miscarried in January and got pregnant again in March. From what I read online there's a lot of differing opinions on the topic.
