Old Wives Tales regarding labor?
I know that most of these don't work, but I'm just wondering what tales there are out there. I know the most popular ones:
Have sex,
Drink raspberry leaf tea ( but I was told that can make you hemorrage, so I'd avoid that one like the plague)
Lots of walking
Nipple stimulation ( but who's got 3 hours to rub their nipples? LOL )
What others have you heard?
And before I get anyone worried, I'm not planning on doing any of these. I know the baby will come when she's good and ready. I'm just bored and trying to kill some time. :)

Castor oil (my mom did this one and was on the toilet and throwing up at the same time for several hours...also heard it wasn't safe to do)
Bounce on a birthing ball
Drink other types of tea or oil stuff (but heard that some of those herbal teas all they do is condition your uterus)
Find out pressure points in feet or back to massage
Ya there are more but I can't think of them right now..but I agree with you that the baby will come when he/she is ready...lol
Take care and good luck!!

Castro Oil....I confess... I took that with my third child... a boy....he was a week late and enough is enough! I joined the kids on the block in a rowdy game of basketball..nothing...then I went in a took the Castor oil....finally contractions with diarrhea...it wasn't pleasant but, to the hospital we went. The doctor broke my water and I had 8 pounds of fluid go everywhere. Then I walked for hours....I watched the other momma come in after me and I was still walking when she held her baby in her arms. I was in labor with my first baby, a daughter for 9 hours, my second daughter was 2 hours.....David was 19 hours and my last son was 36 hours. Usually the more you have the shorter the time but not with my boys.
Good breathing in your Labor....relax with the contractions....and lots of smiles.

each and every of the previous better halves memories in the worldwide won't paintings except you and the toddler are waiting. I, in my opinion, have tried many in my 5 pregnancies. some have worked and a few have not. those that did paintings in basic terms did while i grew to become into previous due and the toddler grew to become into in place. If I had left it on my own, i could have long gone into exertions besides, in basic terms a pair hours later. only loosen up, get some relax. you would be wanting your potential later.

i heard from my daughter's teacher that her mum had had fish and chips with a spicy dip to start her labour pains coz she was a week over due and didn't want to be induced. It worked coz i tried it. i was a week over due and didn't want to go through and induction. I heard its more pain full. It worked for me and afew others. Might work!! Good luck.Just take it easy. The more we want them out , the longer they tend to come out.

Take something you love to focus on into the labor room. Focus on its beauty through the rough times, something kinda small, easily held, easily set beside your face. It's in the family of visualization. We take in 90% of our stress through our eyes, so it's probably true that we'd get 90% delight from looking at something we love to see. I had a friend for whom this greatly helped.
