Conservatives, do you agree with Mike Huckabee's statement?
He said, "I spell God G-O-D, not G-O-P".
I find this a refreshing change coming from a right wing Republican.
Can you read, witwatts? I'm quoting Mike Huckabee! He's saying he doesn't equate his political party with God. How is that making fun of religion???

I saw him on CNN for an hour with Glen Beck. He's right about a lot of things including the need for Republicans to apologize for the incredible incompetence and poor governance of the last 7 years at the presidential level and the last 14 years in congress.

You're implying that most other republicans push a religious agenda as part of their political platform.
You also seem to be pleased that Mike Huckabee doesn't do the same as the rest of the "right wing".
Do I personally agree with his statement?
I honestly don't think it holds much weight since his views are still very conservative and he is probably still the most popular candidate amongst the religious right.
So your point is mute.

I always love to hear someone say what's on their mind, not what everyone wants to hear. It's very refreshing. I like Huckabee. Too bad President Huckabee doesn't exactly have a good ring to it!

Very much so...and witwatts doesn't have a clue...
It is very sad that certain members of the Republican party uses religion like they do, and tries to force it on people. God wants us to worship him with free will, so someone can make that decision. Instead, those who are forcing people to do it are no better than the extremist in the Middle East who force people to practice the Muslim religion...

Everybody's decisons, are based on their morals, which are affected by their religious beliefs. You can't separate the two. Still, I'd rather have a man of god in office then somebody without morals based on any grounded belief system.

Well, YEah! I don't know anyone who does and, frankly, those that do, I'd rather not have anything to do with. They're scary!
That guy that insulted you is probably one of those "scary types." I'm telling ya, you should visit the Religion and Spirituality section sometime just to get an idea of what I'm talking about. But don't tell them if your Catholic or they'll condemn you and the atheists and anyone who disagrees with them, to hell. VERY, very scary!

Crap. I've been misspelling God, "Gop" all this time. You have to admit though, it's very close. Anyone could make that mistake.
Don't attack God, you meanie. God knows, he can't defend himself.

but he still wants creationism taught along side evolution -- and doesn't "believe" in evolution -- that in itself is enough for me to question his reasoning skills

Whats sad is he actually had to explain that.
