Anne Rice wrote "Interview with a Vampire" followed by "The Vampire Lestat" and maybe one more in that series. She also wrote some good books about Ramses and Isis, written from a viewpoint in their historical era.

But take a pass on her book "Christ." It's supposed to be about him as a boy, and it's written from his viewpoint, and it's amazingly poor when put up next to the ones she wrote in her "bad old days." Oh well.

Source(s): EDIT: Thanks, Grace... you reminded me of other vampire books of hers I'd read and forgotten, and you have written a very complete list for the questionner to choose from, or follow. Thumbs up...
