You must be married. My husband and I eloped with out telling anyone almost 8 years ago before he checked out of one command and into another so the Marine Corps would pay to move my belongings and so we would be able to get on the housing list as soon as he checked in. We recieved housing 2 mos later and were "married" 4 mos later (I lived with my parents while we waited for housing) and we had a house already set up after our honey moon. It worked out great!!

I only mentioned all the above stuff because I am assuming that since you are engaged that you plan on getting married anyway. This is one way my husband and I found to have our cake and eat it too! We were able to get housing and still plan a church wedding! Also, if you move to a military community as a spouse rather than a fiance', you will have more support in the community (i.e., Key volunteers, L.I.N.K.S., healthcare, use of the commissary, exchange, gyms, family service center, some job preferences that are afforded to military spouses-- which the family service center can give you more info on that, etc.). Good luck with your future plans!

Fiancees don't count in any branch of the services. To be eligable for base housing you must be married.

You have to be married to him and sign up for base housing..

or once he gets you in the system he can get BAH and you can rent a place off base.

no, fiances never count. a marriage licence is the only thing that holds you together in the military, even when you are separated...
