Would Ron Paul's idea of non-intervention and open commerce make better foreign policy than what we have now?

The million dollar question is: how do we, the people, prevent our leaders in Washington from getting us involved in foreign affairs that will eventually compromise our security and freedom?

My suggestion: end the income tax so the federal government doesn't have billions of our dollars to waste on foreign aid. End the Federal Reserve System so the federal government can't borrow unlimited funds to waste on wars and foreign aid.

But our current culture of government worship will never accept those ideas; look how Ron is labeled a kook by both the left and right.

We need smaller government if we value our freedom, but most people no longer value freedom. They want their expensive baubles, entertainment, and a sense that they can somehow run everyone else's lives.

the only thing i dislike about Ron is that he is running on the republican ticket. if he is honestly about offering an alternative to both the democratic and republican parties, he should run as an independent.

Dr. Paul is correct. Also, if there was a Draft for national service. People would think twice before engaging in foreign Military interventions. A volunteer military invites abuses because it's a professional arm of the government as opposed to a directly involved citizenry.

Of course they call him a kook. He wants to take away all the big money to be made in 'public service'. What a joke! If only the REAL public servants, like soldiers and cops, lived as well off as politicians.

A new form of feudalism is what Ron Paul advocates.

The purpose of our government is to protect the rights of the individual, as identified in the Declaration of Independence. Our form of government is what makes our nation successful. Without good representative government market economies do not function very well. Ron Paul wants to turn control of our country over the super rich, sell off our public resources to the rich so that corporations control all access to our nations resources. That is how most of Latin America is ran, and this would be a horrible failure. Ron Paul's ideas would be the end our our rights, liberty, and ability to pursue happiness.

A strong representative government protecting the rights of the individual from abuse from those who seek power in wealth is a necessity for a strong nation and economy, as history has clearly demonstrated over and over again.

America is and always will be in debt. No matter if the government has the money of not, we will still spend more than we have.

America will always be in debt to someone. I would like to be in a surplus soon though, and when I say that, I mean a net surplus.
