I'm a tech in Silicon Valley. I consider myself to be a moderate liberal. I don't believe in communism or the free market. I am for limited levels of social programs. Immigration needs to be controlled. Markets systems need to be regulated to work efficiently. The primary role of government is to protect the rights of the individual first. We need a strong military, but it is not our job to be the worlds cops. Let the international corporations pay to secure their international assets.

  • What if a black man shot a white teen?

Look up the story of Roderick Scott. Why didn't this get nationwide attention? I think the better question is if big media is trying to stir up racial hatred.

  • In the new Star Trek, why does Kirk spend the movie getting his butt kicked?

In the original series, Kirk would usually wind up fighting aliens who always seem to by physically superior, but he would find a way to win. In this new movie, Kirk gets his butt kicked, and often badly, throughout the whole movie. Why couldn't he win one fight.

In addition, Kirk goes for Uhura, early in the movie, and then later on in the movie she literally throws herself at Spock. It seems somebody was trying to send a message. This part of the movie, in my opinion, was where they failed to stay with character. Spock had already shown plenty of emotion, they didn't need to emphasize this any more. This new love interest twist will most likely cause problems with any future stories.

  • Should Hillary supporters also not support super delegate who refuse to back the winner of the popular vote?

I say that if the super delegates refuse to do their job and support the winner of the popular vote, Hillary supporters should refuse to support them in their congressional runs. It is becoming very apparent that the supposed democratic party is not democratic by refusing to count all the votes and thereby overturning the will of the people.

    13 AnswersElections1 decade ago
  • Should Obama now drop out since Hillary has won the popular vote?

When all the votes are counted, Hillary has won the popular vote. Obama should drop out, and bow to the will of the people. The DNC political machine should also bow to the will of the people. Super delegates have until the convention to change their mind, they should all now start lining up behind Hillary for the good of the party.

    24 AnswersElections1 decade ago
  • Shouldn't the candidate who gets the most votes be the winner?

If Hillary wins the popular vote, then Hillary should be the Nom.. This is what democracy is all about. Obama's only claim to the nom. depends on not counting a huge chunk of voters. That violates all democratic principles.

The super delegates need to do the right thing and select the candidate who got the most votes.

  • Do you support Obama's world charity program?

How many of you are aware of Obama's world charity program? Obama wants to obligate a percentage our nations GDP to be sent to third world nations as charity, especially Africa.

I don't know how many of you have read up on what happens with charity funds, but most of it winds up going to the brutal dictatorships and oligarchies that control these countries, and winds up being spent on buying weapons. What aid does arrive winds up creating a growing population that depends entirely on foreign aid. When the foreign aid is cut back by lack of funding or the local war lords demanding higher bribes, the U.S. gets blamed for causing the misery.

I don't know about the rest of you people, but I don't want to fund the ever increasing power of warlords in third world countries, nor do I want my children obligated to pay debts built up to help Obama's relatives take over Africa and establish the Muslim religion throughout Africa.

  • Anyone know the poet Bob Dylan refers to in "Tangled Up and Blue"?

The poet he talks about in this verse

The poet he talks about in this verse.

"She lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe

I thought you'd never say hello, she said, you look like the silent type

And then she opened up a book of poems and handed it to me

Written by an Italian poet from the thirteenth century"

"Every one of those words rang true and glowed like burning coal

Pouring off of every page like it was written in my soul

From me to you; tangled up in blue"

  • Clintonites, do you feel betrayed by the Democratic party?

All those endorsements of Obama, especially after the racist comments by his pastor, his refusal to honor our national anthem which is clearly shown in a video, his claims to be a Christian after reciting the opening prayers of Islam which confirms that he is a Muslim, his constant sneaky way of taking both sides of opposing issues, and his far left agenda are completely turning me away from the democratic party.

It is as if everything that republicans have said about elitist democrats are being proved to be true. I want a party that represents all Americans, not just special interests who want to blame everyone else for their own problems.

  • Would you vote for Obama if you knew he was really a Muslim?

This point is hard to deny on this information.

"In an interview with Nicholas Kristof, published in The New York Times, Obama recited the Muslim call to prayer, the Adhan, "with a first-class [Arabic] accent."

The opening lines of the Adhan (Azaan) is the Shahada:

"Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!

Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!

I witness that there is no god but Allah

I witness that there is no god but Allah

I witness that Muhammad is his prophet... "

According to Islamic scholars, reciting the Shahada, the Muslim declaration of faith, makes one a Muslim. This simple yet profound statement expresses a Muslim's complete acceptance of, and total commitment to, the message of Islam.

    "

"Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent."

Link as to what makes one a Muslim.

  • Why shouldn't Michigan and Florida been allowed to be moved up?

The people of these two states offer a much broader mix of democratic supporters than any of the first four states who held primaries.

God forbid blue collar workers, retirees, and hispanics get a say in the primary before super Tuesday.

    12 AnswersElections1 decade ago
  • Do the democrats take white blue collar workers for granted?

Cause I sure feel that way. The rules of the DNC are tilted against us, we are the non-college grads they want to make fun of, and our vote is being ignored.

Why should we remain loyal to the DNC?

  • Aren't the rapid Obama fans here really just Hillary haters posing as Obama supporters?

Who only want to stir up hatred and plan on voting for McCain anyway?

Remember to make fun of all the stupid comments, and take em with a grain of salt, cause all they are is dissenters anyway.

  • Was the monster comment the biggest screw up in modern campaign history?

Add to it that at the same time the woman was saying that Obama did not really plan on an immediate withdraw of his troops, which add more fuel to the fire that he is not being honest about his policies. Gotta feel sorry for this woman.

This woman is a Pulitzer prize winner, and apparently very close to Obama. If this is her view of Hillary, you have to wonder if it is not also Obama's view. Now those evil looks at the state of Union address become far more difficult to ignore.

If this is how Obama really feels about Hillary, then he has lost all credibility to me. IN addition, if she is that close to Obama how could she have his real position on Iraq so completely wrong. This little snippet reads like a glance into the real Obama inner circle. Who is the real man behind the image?

  • Was Hillary forced into the Four State Pledge?

Hillary was the last candidate to sign the pledge, and the one with the most to loose. Up until the last minute, it looked like she might reject the deal, but that would have been very risky. Once the DNC set up this situation, Hillary greatly risked damaging her chances in the four states who were demanding this pledge, and that would have essentially been political suicide, so basicly she had to sign a deal the might turn out to cost her the nomination.

Had Florida and Michigan been counted, both states whose demographics favor Hillary, while S. Carolina very much favored Obama, Hillary would have gone into super Tuesday with all the momentum, instead of Obama, and this primary most likely would have already been over, with Hillary winning heavily on super Tuesday.

In my opinion the fix was in, and I personally am very unhappy with this situation created by the DNC.

  • Can Obama and Hillary work together after the primaries are finished?

Even if both candidates are still competing for the nomination?

Let the fight then go underground, and Hillary and Obama should unite to go after McCain together. This will force McCain to compete against two candidates, and force the repub attack machine to try and go after two candidates, greatly undermining both.

Having two democrats competing for the nomination up until the convention could be turned into an asset, instead of a negative. Hillary and Obama working together would unite the party, and a reasonable solution could be agreed upon by the time of the convention.

Are we in this to win?

    7 AnswersElections1 decade ago
  • Could it actually be better for both to stay in the race until the convention.?

The democratic party's primary rules have made a mess of this election, and almost given repubs the opportunity to pick the democratic candidate, but if both candidates remain in the race until the primary in August, it might help the democrats regain some ground.

sooner or later the repub attack machine is going to have to go into action, and if the democratic nomination is up for grabs that means that the repub attack machine will either have to go after both candidates, which will make it far less effective, or wait until the convention, and then go after the winner, which will leave it much less time to work with, and once again, much less effective.

Also, waiting for the convention might give some time for everyone to calm down, and come to a agreement on who wins the nomination, and come out more united.

Trying to force out one candidate now is more likely to create a bitter division that will last until the general election.

  • How many people are paying attention to what Muslims are doing in Europe?

This is a well written article that should not be ignored. Whether or not people want to face it, we are in a war between cultures, and the longer we take to react, the more violent the final resolution will be. Don't wait for the thugs to be knocking on your door before you start to act.

    http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/12/02/news/islam7...

I think this quote from the last page of the article really puts the situation into perspective.

"The three Turkish authors are mounting a frontal assault on that kind of relativism. They are fighting on two fronts: against Islamist oppression of women and its proponents, and against the guilt-ridden tolerance of liberal multiculturalists. "Before I can get to the Islamic patriarchs, I first have to work my way through these mountains of German guilt," Ates complains."

"It is women who suffer most from German sensitivity toward Islam. The three authors explicitly accuse German do-gooders of having left Muslim women in Germany...."

  • How many people are aware of what Muslim communities are doing in Europe?

I suggest everyone read this article. Suddenly McCain's call for 100 years of war doesn't seem too unrealistic.

  • If Michigan and Florida voters had been given their chance to have their say, where would we be now?

If Michigan and Florida had not been wrongfully stripped of their delegates, Hillary would have gone into super Tuesday with a great deal of momentum, and might have closed the deal back then, and could now be concentrating on McCain.

Both Michigan and Florida are states with demographics that favor Hillary, and she most likely would have won both of those primaries, especially Florida.

Even if the rest of the votes had gone the same, Hillary would now be ahead in the delegate count.

Why were Michigan and Florida stripped of their delegates? Now that so many of the old time democrats have come out for Obama, it sure looks like the fix was in from the beginning, especially considering the party machines influence in caucus primaries and South Carolina's history. Why shouldn't Michigan and Florida be allowed to hold primaries when they choose to do so?

The democratic party really has screwed up this election.
