Are Sox fans really that callused?
I'm not from Colorado. I don't pretend to be from Colorado. I rooted for the Rockies because they, as a team, voted to have a full playoff share go to the family of Mike Coolbaugh, the minor league coach that was killed this past Summer by a line drive to the head. His widow is left with two young boys and a baby that is due next month. What better reason to have a team succeed than to make sure that those people are provided for in their time of need?
Then I come on here and there are questions about the team's faith, reasons to HATE the Rockies (since removed), and other vile references. Did Cardinals fans act like this last year? Seriously, people!
Let me be clear, I'm not jumping to anything. I asked a question. If anyone is jumping to conclusions, it would be the ones thinking I'm jumping to conclusions!
And, yes, even the loser's share will go to the family. Thank God and the Rockies.
Reading is fundamental! I only stated why I was rooting for Colorado, not once did I suggest that the Red Sox throw the Series or anything like that. It's people like you that are adding to the problem, not clearing it up!

I agree with you that is was a GREAT thing they did by voting for that. Hopefully they do the same with their winnings, even though they didn't win. The losing team still get a share, albeit a lesser portion.
Mrs. Neil - that is a blatant LIE. You asked a question and said how much you hate the Rockies, and have since removed the question.
The exact question was : "Who hates the Rockies". Then you said, "I hate them".
Why would you lie like this?
Go away now moron.

The folks on Y/A supporting the Rockies were just like the Rockies' fans, far classier than most Red Sox fans. Don't overlook, though, that SOME Red Sox fans have made an effort to be gracious. By and large, though, you're right. The problem here is that so many people NEVER show sportsmanship and when you call them on it, they hide behind, "Aw, it was all in good fun." Not all the time , it isn't.

I only know that sox fans can be rude with the yankees, but we get it back from them. A little personal interjection here, I notice the team, from john henry, francona, down to the players were very respectful when talking about the rockies after we swept the WS. I did hear, however, that red sox nation don't need no stinking rags to wave around.

I don't think it was Sox fans hating the Rockies... I think you're just going to find, on such an open and worldwide forum as this, that there are some real kooks out there... and some of them happen to like the Red Sox.
I know that sounds like an odd hairline distinction... but when you're talking fans (humans) versus people like that... I don't think it has anything to do with them being Sox fans per se (or fans of any particular sports team)... they are just people who are nasty in mind and soul.
I'm a total Sox fan, and I was horrified by what happened to Coolbaugh. I think what their team has done in the wake of that tragedy is fantastic.

They were donating a small portion of the winnings and they are probably still going to donate a small portion of the losers purse as well so I don't know what the problem is.
I didn't see anyone hating the ROCKIES but if fans supporting & rooting for their team is "hating" in your eyes this might not be the sport for you...I think maybe golf is more your speed.

I've never said a bad word about the Rockies. I'll definitely agree that people shouldn't be skunk-mouthing the Rockies. And I'll be the first to admit they kicked some serious butt at the end of the season. Just please don't judge all of Red Sox Nation based on the loud-mouthed, ignorant members.
I've got an issue with the first part of your question though...are you suggesting Boston should have thrown the World Series??? Look, that's a tragic story and all, no doubt, but Boston worked hard for the championship.
That being said...
WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RED SOX RULE!!!
Sorry...A little bit psyched here...I figured I'd have to wait 86 more years to see it again. :)

Are you saying the Sox should have intentionally lost the WS because the Rockies are nice?
Really- the win had NOTHING to do with the fans or the commitments. The better team won. Simple.

im not a rockies or a red sox fan but it is unfortunate that a member of the Rockies organization was killed in an unfortunate way and untimely place.
that being said, please don't base your opinion on whether you want a team to win because of their off field commitments... nearly every team would have done the same thing had it happened to one of their own...
every team has good and bad fans... it's just who the media wants to put on TV...

No, sox fans are not. I just displayed that as my happiness for the Red Sox! I am not against the Rockies, and i do not hate them with passion! I just think some of their players seem a bit cocky, and they didnt do that well as saying that the Red Sox won. Dont get offended...jeez... you people are making too big a deal out of this! I was just bored, sure, and I was happy for the Red Sox... but remember guys: its just baseball. Somebody could be saying worse things! Baseball is a huge part of my life and hating on teams isn't something i normally do. Dont jump to conclusions because you dont really know what people are thinking, k?

just because you saw a post saying 'who hates the Rockies' doesn't mean it was necessarily a fan of the Red Sox.
Holy jump to conclusions batman.
