What is a good gift for a 7 year old girl?

My daughter is 7, and has been asking for a diary. It can be as simple or as fancy as you want, but should be big enough for her to put words and pictures in it. Perhaps some nice pencils and a pencil holder to go with it. You should definitely be able to find something nice for under $40.

My daughter would also like makeup (not from me!), jewelery (maybe a gift card from Claire's), American Girl stuff.

I'd still go with the diary, but that's a personal choice. I don't know the girl you'll be buying for, which is why I listed some other choices. If I think of more, I'll post more.

A charm bracelet or a merry go round or ballerina jewelry box.

Dress up costumes! A handcrafted doll house! Um.... a bike!

A tea set, complete with (plastic) cutterly, teapot, cups, saucers, plates, ect. The kind of thing I dreamed of at that age.

An arts and craft kit, little girls love to make stuff!
