Is it normal to feel an urge to have a baby although I have no desire to have one?
My fiance and I have been together for close to three years now and we'll be getting married in about a year. We have talked about children in length, and we both agree that we want to wait 2-4 years after marriage to have a kid. I in no way want a child right now and enjoy our freedom together too much to want an addition to the family any time soon. The strange thing, however, is that on some other level, I want a child badly. I think a big part of that is that nearly all of my close friends are pregnant, or recently had a kid. Is it normal to feel some kind of subconcious or physical urge to get pregnant, even when on all other levels you have no desire to have a baby? Has anyone else ever felt this way? Part of me wants to be pregnant, but the everyday rational part of me wants nothing to do with having a kid.

Its ok, I think personally your having things feelings cause you found the man your going to marry. You are happy and you know in your hart that this man will make a good dad. It was like that for me anyway. I was with someone for over 5 years and didn't have the urge at all to have children. Then I met my now husband. And within 1 year we were married and pg. We both wanted children badly. for the first time in life this is what I wanted.
Good Luck to you

Yup, my boyfriend and I just moved in together and every time I see a baby I always say I want one, but really I have always not wanted kids. There is nothing wrong with me, I love children but my boyfriend and I said if it happens, it happens if it doesn't were not pushing the issue. I'm really not pushing the issue, but their so darn cute I just think is a natural thing for a woman.

Absolutely normal. It's a biological thing. Plus you said a lot of your friends are having babies so its also a "follow the crowd" thing. Even when I was in my late teens I remember secretly hoping that my period wouldn't come every month. Thank heavens I didnt get pregnant until we were both good and ready for it, but definetley, I've experienced what you're describing.

It happens to everyone. You just want to have the motherly feeling and a child to give that feeling too.
