I think it is necessary for you to have it later. Many people leave town at this time of the year/many people distracted by Thanksgiving preparations.
Since you are turning 36, I wonder what you have done the last 35 times you came to this point?
Also, a bonus here-you get to stretch out your birthday from a one day fun time to a two week long fun time.
I always celebrate my birthday week. It lasts longer that way.

Not at all, just write on the invite. My birthday is two days before Thanksgiving. I know everyone is busy doing other things. Therefore, I cordially invite you to my 36th birthday party which will take place ____the date. They wont care at all!! Good luck!

No everyone will understand. So many people go away that weekend, it's ridiculous to think that you could have a party that weekend.

No, it's not bad but I guess you feel more excited closer to the date. However, you should select the date and time that is convenient to you and others. Enjoy!

Not really. It is your birthday and how long ago your birthday was is not as important to your friends as you are.

No, it isn't bad. I get invitations all the time that are longer from the actual date than that!! It's your party...do it "your way"!!
