How can I stop my (neutered, male) cat from spraying on the carpets?
My cat keeps peeing on the carpets (mainly my room, where he sleeps and it has a litter box in it too, and the living room)! My mom told me he's just jealous of the other animals (4 dogs and 1 other kitten) and wants the attention to himself, or he's just lazy to go upstairs to go to the bathroom. I know she will refuse to have another cat box (especially in the dining room) and the only solution I have is to keep him locked up in my room forever (or until I move out for college). And it's torture for him and I know hes miserable to be in the same room 24/7, so any suggestions? Thank you!

The cat box has to be clean as possible. It's good habit to empty it of the litter, wash it out with hot water and detergent and fill it back up with a good quality litter at least once a week. Scoop poops out once a day too. Cat's are very fussy when it comes to their bathroom needs. If the box gets too smelly that can make the cat go else where.
There are repellents sold in pet shops that you can spray on the areas he is going on. They won't hurt or harm your cat in any way. These repellents have a very pungent odor and will keep him away from the ares he goes in. The only thing is with the repellents they have to be sprayed every 24 hours or they loose their scent and won't work.
I hope this helps!

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!

Cat's pee on carpets and other things for many reasons and he he's not lazy regarding going upstairs to use his potty. He's really angry with you and wants you to know about it and he's suceeding that way. I have four cat's of my own. My babies, and I've had a lot of things happen to me or them through out they're 7 years of life. My cat's will bee or poop right next to the litter box or even on top of it if they feel the box's haven't been scrubbed out and that doesn't mean the daily chore of scooping out they're boxes. Cat's are VERY picky where they're toilet is located how often they're cleaned out. Cat's don't like they're bathroom where there's a lot of traffic....people going in and out. Things like that. And they do get jealous especially when the attention is off them. They can be like toddlers who are attached to they're mothers legs or hips. You are your cat's number one fan and he may want to and he doesn't want to share that with anyone else especially other animal's. My cat Boy, who has since pasted away used to pee everywhere in my apartment. I finally had to take him into the vet to see what the problem was. He had a urinary tracked infection that wouldn't go away. When cat's pee and have have this infection to them it feels like peeing tiny piecec off of glass so they kind of loose control of they're bladders. The peeing is a story they need to tell they're mommy's and daddy's and unfortunately we have to figure the story out. I hope that I have been of some help.

Most cats who start pottying somewhere other than the litter box have a medical reason to be doing so. Have you tried having him into the vet to check for a urinary tract infection? Your first step should be to rule that out.

have him checked for a urinary tract infection. that is the top reason why cats will urinate outside the box.
