Birth Certificate Copy ok for TSA job?
Hey everyone! I recently took the TSA computerized test and passed, and now am scheduled for the airport assessment tomorrow at Norfolk International Airport but cannot find my original birth certificate (bad, i know). She stated that I needed a picture ID (Driver's License) and a birth cert. or ssc..Does anyone know if they will require the original or if the copy would be okay? Thanks alot.
I live in Virginia but was born in Connecticut :(

Obviously if you live in VA now you won't be able to get an official copy in one day.
At some point you will need an original. But just go for the thing anyway. You will do that or they will reschedule you. Or they will just require that you provide one at a later date before you get an offer. You can't be the first person on the planet who showed up w. a copy. That you showed will say much in the hiring process.
I would though get on the net and order an original soonest.

You need to produce ID to fill out the I-9 form which requires a state photo ID (your driver license) and then your original social security card OR an official birth certificate. A copy of your birth certificate is not going to work and in a lot of cases your actual original birth certificate won't work either. This is becasue your birth certificate has to have a raised seal on it and a lot of old ones don't. Go to your local health department and get a birth certificate. It cost $15 here and probably similar where you live. It is good to have anyway because you will need it to renew your drivers license.

Most places would rather have the original and they will make the copy themselves.
What state are you in? You should have a local "Vital Records" office where you can apply for a duplicate birth certificate and get it on the spot.
I live in Pennsylvania, and we have a State Building in the city. You can go there with a check or money order for $10, and your id, and you will leave with your original birth certificate. I'm sure your state has that service as well.
