The prayer of the broken record.

Seriously. You have millions of people saying the same thing over and over. If I were god, I'd get tired of that right away, but since there is no god, have at it. Pray the same thing over and over and over again.

Well, since the Hail Mary is a Scriptural prayer, that is, a direct quote from Luke, and the last phrase is asking for her to pray for us (as part of the communion of saints), I don't know why you would have a problem with it.

Secondly, you have a sincere misunderstanding about what the Rosary actually is. In reality, it is considering twenty events (Biblical events) in the life of Christ. These events are: The Annunciation, the Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth, the Nativity, the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, and the Finding in the Temple; the Agony in the Garden, the Scourging, the Crowning with Thorns, the Carrying of the Cross, and the Crucifixion; the Resurrection, the Ascension, the Descent of the Holy Spirit, the Ascension, and the Crowning of Mary; the Baptism of the Lord, the Wedding at Cana, the Proclaimation of the Kingdom, the Transfiguration, and the Institution of the Eucharist.

We also pray the Lord's Prayer and the Doxology.

Hope that helps you better understand what the Rosary actually is.

Matt. 6:7 - Jesus teaches, "do not heap up empty phrases" in prayer. Protestants use this verse to criticize various Catholic forms of prayer which repeat phrases, such as litanies and the Rosary. But Jesus' focus in this instruction is on the "vain," and not on the "repetition."

Matt. 26:44 - for example, Jesus prayed a third time in the garden of Gethsemane, saying the exact same words again. It is not the repetition that is the issue. It's the vanity. God looks into our heart, not solely at our words.

Luke 18:13 - the tax collector kept beating his breast and praying "God be merciful to me, a sinner." This repetitive prayer was pleasing to God because it was offered with a sincere and repentant heart.

Acts 10:2,4 - Cornelius prayed constantly to the Lord and his prayers ascended as a memorial before God.

Rom. 1:9 - Paul says that he always mentions the Romans in his prayers without ceasing.

Rom. 12:12 - Paul commands us to be constant in prayer. God looks at what is in our heart, not necessarily how we choose our words.

1 Thess. 5:17 - Paul commands us to pray constantly. Good repetition is different than vain repetition.

Rev. 4:8 - the angels pray day and night without cessation the same words "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty." This is repetitious prayer that is pleasing to God.

Psalm 136 - in this Psalm, the phrase "For His steadfast love endures forever" is more repetitious than any Catholic prayer, and it is God's divine Word.

Dan. 3:35-66 - the phrase "Bless the Lord" is similarly offered repeatedly, and mirrors Catholic litanies.

The Prophet Isaiah observed a maximum remarkable imaginative and prescient: the court docket of God in heaven the place he's surrounded via adoring angels lower back and lower back asserting: Holy, Holy, Holy... for all circumstances. If God is Holy, does no longer basically one Holy suffice, and that's repeated many times lower back - is God dense? No, however the angels are not, the two. yet, they shop on repeating their prayers - and that they're angels! How lots extra for people like us who've a tendency to forget issues that are no longer habitually practiced. Now- only thinking: If there is largely one god- why the three holies? are not those consistent with possibility in connection with the three Divine persons?

The prayer known as the "Hail Mary" is 80% scriptural in nature. The rest is the logical application of the scripture.

The entire prayer praises God for what he has done to confirm our humanity and to save us through his son, Jesus Christ.

The only criticism Jesus ever had of repetetive prayer was when pagans did it, praying to false, powerless gods.

Otherwise, Jesus recommended constant prayer, and the bible clearly shows that such prayer is pleasing to God:

Luk 18:1 And he spoke also a parable to them, that we ought always to pray and not to faint,

Luk 18:2 Saying: There was a judge in a certain city, who feared not God nor regarded man.

    1Th 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

Rev 4:8 And the four living creatures had each of them six wings: and round about and within they are full of eyes. And they rested not day and night, saying: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.

Luke 1:28: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Luke 1:42: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.

That's the beginning of the Hail Mary, dude. Two quotes from the Bible. Do you think it's wrong to quote scripture, even if you repeat it?

Do you think it's wrong to ask God for mercy more than once? Do you think it's wrong to ask God to show you the way more than once?

Repeating is not forbidden in the Bible. Only "vain" (that means "pointless") repetition. If you have a point to your repetition, it's okay.

xspa k said it best with:

Matthew 6 : 7 When you pray , use not vain repetitions as the pagans do , for they think they will be heard for their much speaking

Apparently most catholics haven't seen that part of the bible before they pray the rosary.

You're asking for a verse for validation, yet the bible says nothing about a practice having to be "in the bible." That is sola scriptura. Where is THAT in the Bible?

You are inferring that a prayer is rendered invalid if repeated. If this is the case, then by your criteria, marriage vows, the Our Father, food blessings "bless this food to the nourishment of our bodies..." etc.etc. are all negated because they are repeated. "Vain" is the key word. Only an individual knows in their heart whether their prayer is "vain."

Does it not bother you that the book to whom you assign complete authority was only pronounced authoritative by the authority of the Catholic Church?

By the bye...the rosary contains not only the hail Mary, but the Our Father and a couple of others. The Hail Mary is only asking her to pray for us, just like you would ask someone to pray for you. We are not worshipping her.

If YOU find where sola scriptura is taught in the Bible, let US know.

    Hint...you won't.

Jesus repeated prayer when He prayed to His Father during the Agony in the Garden. He repeated the same pray 3 times.

    God bless,

Jesus says pray like this: -you don't have to pray like this...but he gave examples...repeated prayers are okay..and even good...as long as you mean them and aren't just going through the motions...i don't agree with praying to Mary though....biggest reason why I'm a protestant..

Nor do I agree with the principle of the rosary...which is basically for repenting....or working off your sins...which is against the Bible...another big reason why protestants split off...

    Our Father in Heaven,

    Hallowed Be thy Name

    you probably know the rest....

Obviously, you have never heard or read the Rosary. The Rosary is mostly Scripture and focuses ones mind on the passion of Christ. Do you really think that God would be opposed to this kind of worship?

It has absolutely nothing to do with the vain practice of Pagans as it is done by Christians and is focused on Christ, therefore it is not in vain.

    In Christ
