New England Road Trip?

I'm thinking of having a New England Road trip for about two weeks next August or possibly in the fall depending on school and money.

Starting from Montauk Point, Long Island, New York and going all the way up to Maine and then down to Virginia. Any places to stay, or things to do would be great. Or if you know of any little out-of-the-way roads that would be awesome too. And do you think two weeks will be enough time?

Thanks a bunch!

I know I'm not in your area, but if you go to www.lightninrv.com and go to "Rentals" you'll find a lot of great travel information and lots of road trip ideas.

Once there, go to our 'Special Events Calendar' and you'll see we have a lot of great events listed going on all over the country. But, don't look at it for just the time period you're thinking of going, as the locations we list there are good travel destinations just about all year long. I'm in the middle of updating the Calendar for 2008 and hope to have it all posted by Christmas, so keep watching it.

The only thing that will be on the 'Calendar' that won't include any for your area will be sporting events. We will add both local college and pro football teams' schedules, but none will be listed for your area. So, if you're a basball or football fan, can you work some of those games into your trip...remember, you don't have to be a fan of the team, just of the sport!

Then go to "Travel Links" where you'll find sites like 'The Wackiest Tourist Attractions in the U.S.' and 'The Largest Roadside Attractions in the U.S.' for fun. Another great fun one is 'Watch It Made in the U.S.A', there are some really fun ideas there. And, a whole lot of very helpful travel links as well.

We will soon have a new addition called www.happymappy.com listed within a couple of months or so. Right now it is in the development stage and should be running by early spring...will be a great travel aid to everyone.

If you go on it now, you'll be able to see it's demo.

If you just look at what you'll find on our 'Calendar' you'll see that 2 weeks is not enough...but there's nothing wrong with not seeing everything...you always want to leave a reason to go back.

    Have a great trip!

I love the travel and I have found that I enjoy it best if I just wing it. You find the most amazing things to see and do this way, and you don't have the pressure of keeping a schedule.

By the way, I'll be doing a road trip next year, too. We are going from Washington State, to San Diego, to Cabo San Lucas (just a little cruise -- it was a gift), back to San Diego, then we will state hop making extended stays with family and friends in Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Illinois, Ohio, Virginia, and Kentucky. Our final destination will be where we set up house, until we get tired of being in Kentucky, then we'll move on somewhere else.

A stop in Newport, RI would be wise. There's a zillion adorable bed and breakfasts to stay in. You can shop and eat around Thames St, tour the mansions and walk the cliffwalk. Or just hang on the beach for the day.
