Is It Time The SAS Were Sent Into Sudan To Extract...?
...Gillian Gibbons? She is a British citizen and her life is obviously in danger. Should the Government not be proactive and order the insertion into Kartoum of an SAS unit to get her the hell out of there?

Is this a case of Who 'Bears' Wins?..................................!!!!!

Now it is. If we had had a halfway decent Foreign Secretary,
instead of the Wimp that is currently in this post, Gillian Gibbons would never have been prosecuted.
I do believe that Gillian is in some considerable danger, with
little chance of constructive help from this government.
(Come back Maggie, all is forgiven)
If and when Gillian Gibbons is safely back in England, we
should stop all aid to Sudan, cancell all student visas and deport said students back to Sudan. Break off diplomatic relations with Sudan and expell all Sudanese Embassy staff
A.S.A.P. Particularly the arrogant, unfeeling one that appeared on TV.

What I don't understand is, why the gibbons had to go to prison when it was the teacher who insulted the prophet.
On a more serious note, I'm sure she'll leave Sudan as soon as she gets released, never to return - and let her case be a warning to us all about the perils of working in an unstable, hysterical country which is at war with itself.
(see link for Foreign Office's warnings against travel to Sudan: perhaps now they will add under Local Laws and Customs: "think carefully before naming teddy bears")

The Government should be using every option available to them to get this woman home. Instead we have a pathetic Foreign Secretary who merely states his concern!! Perhaps the problem lies in the fact that she IS a British citizen...

Well diplomacy is not going to get us anywhere. If we send in the SAS there will be huge trouble. I think thats on the cards sooner or later anyway. Another reason for having strong leadership!

without wishing to get bogged down in the moral aspects of this particular case, and by the way,I think she WAS hard done by,the SAS are not simply a metaphoric stick, with which to beat all those who do harm to UK citizens, but one of a large range of measures the Govt has at its disposal to solve such affairs.Give the diplomats and politicians a chance to do their job, however badly, and when all else fails, military intervention is always an option;something the people who prosecuted the 2nd Gulf War might do well to remember........

what I think the British Government should do is stop all aid to the Sudan they only spend the money on fighting anyway.
Mr Brown sort it out!

The Sudanese are corrupt and well known for it, they are probably looking for a bribe to be paid to them,
See Sudan in the link below in central n/e Africa. The WORST corruption on earth

She has been sentenced to 15 days in prison, and the world is watching she is hardly in any danger.
Would you really risk her life, the life a group of SAS soldier, pilots, and even civilians? or would you abide by another countries rules & culture.
And dont give me any crap about how we have to adapt to them when they come here, if you dont like it vote on it, and campaign to make other people vote, then you wil see some change!!!!!!

Yes. Absolutely. What a horrendous treatment of a UK citizen in breach of all accepted international law - a truly medieval system.

I think it would be better if they focused on stopping the Muslims there killing off the Pagan tribes that where allowed to live there before Sharia...
The death toll is thousands based on the fact they are non-Muslim.
