Why don't people say "dungarees" anymore?

Is it just an out-of-date term or is there a difference between dungarees and jeans?

It's the shrinking of the American vocabulary. It's the simplification of what the language used to be. It's why people post questions like "the words sung in the song" rather than calling it "lyrics." One stop language shopping.

ahem...imagine this in the voice of Beavis and Buthead..."huhuhu..she said dung...heeheehee yeah...dung! Hahaha! You said dung hahaha." I think that says it all. that one syllable made the word completely out of date and unacceptable. Indeed i don't know if that one syllable will make it through the obscene word filters!
