Can having sex induce labor even if the baby isn't ready or fully developed yet? For example. at 36 weeks?

it can help to soften your cervix. semen has the same effects as the stuff they'll use to induce you. it isn't as strong as the stuff doctors inject in you but it can help. our doctor recomended having sex since my cervix wasn't softening or dilating on its own.
so it may not help to induce you into labor but it may help get your cervix ready
but if that baby isn't ready it isn't going to come out!!!!

As long as there are no medical issues and your water hasn't broken sex is fine right up until labor begins. Of course, it can be pretty uncomfortable and you'll need to be creative to accommodate your pregnant tummy. If things are getting close and you've begun to efface and dilate, sex may help things along. The hormone found in semen contains the same hormone used when it is time for the cervix to begin softening. There is a man-made version sometimes used as a preliminary step to inducing labor. It comes as a gel and is inserted vaginally. Sometimes it works to get the cervix thinning and softening, sometimes not. Having an orgasm can sometimes cause uterine contractions. If your body and your baby aren't ready to go into labor yet, these contractions will stop. I had 4 babies born past their due dates (by 9 days, 11 days, 5 days, and 7 days). My husband and I tried sex to get things moving faster, but it never worked for us. Sex may possibly help if things are ready to go anyway, but it isn't harmful unless there is a medical condition and the doctor has suggested you refrain.

Nope, it won't induce labor at 36 weeks if the baby (or your body) isn't ready.
If you're asking because you want to have sex... go for it. Just be gentle with it of course.
If you're asking because you're looking to induce... just hang in there. I know it's uncomfortable (I was a week late), but the next month will fly by.

No, nein, nyet. However, herbal and chemical agents exist that can induce labour at almost any stage, which if the fetus be of insufficient stage of developement will result in a miscarriage. Such an artificially induced miscarriage is usually termed an abortion. It is widely believed that sexual activity in the last month or weeks of pregnancy MIGHT induce labour, but even then probably not. Labour is induced naturally by hormonal and physical changes, not sexual congress.

36 weeks is almost full term. it depends on if the baby is ready to come out. you can have your labor induced as early as 37 weeks.

No..if baby isnt ready, all the sex in the world isnt gonna make it come sooner.
only thing that would induce labor is your body being ready and baby being ready.

if labor isnt ready to come on, sex wont help.... sex is something that will help only when labor is ready to start on its own, like at 39/40+ weeks. it will not start labor at 36 weeks if baby isnt ready to come yet.

No, if the baby isn't ready this way will not work. I tried, okay I tried everything!! From prune juice to wearing my poor husband out. The only thing that worked for me was to wait, and on the full moon my water broke at 39 weeks.

I deivered at 38 weeks after having sex with orgasm, labor started within 2 hours and lasted 4. Orgasm can trigger contractions, and semen naturally softens the cerix. The medicine they inject into a womans cerix to induce labor is actually "man made semen" so yes, it could.

They just had a big report on a study which was done on just that. The study concluded "No" it does not induce labor.
Maybe if you do a search you can find the study.
