alien invasion?

i've been researching about this topic for a while now, and i think its inevitable that it will happen in our history as a civilisation, so this is a question to all the masses.

If two unlike life forms with equal requirements meet, it is always a good idea to have some form of defence.

What will of course happen is that the Aliens may land in the Americans sphere of influence; which means that the Yanks will shoot first and greet later in a thing called ''Welcome Friendly Fire''.

This will generate an Interstellar War.

So I feel we should keep some weapons handy, even if it is for Guerrilla Survival War later.

Why is this inevitable? It assumes several things - that there is alien life, that it is intelligent, that it has mastered spaceflight, that it has a reason to attack. When it comes to extra-terrestrial objects, I think a more realistic concern is the chance that a meteorite of some size could collide with the earth.

I would have thought that a civilisation that was able to travel at the speed of light through billions of light years would be unlikely to be stopped by anything we can develop on earth at the present time.....so really a waste of time.

the earth has been around for 4 billion years, there has been no invasion, if there is life out there will be no chance of them making a UFO as they wouldn't have the same technology or brain power maybe

I think yeah because using defense will at least protect half of the world which is better than aliens invading.

I suspect they are here already and are so small we cannot see them. Also I have to believe that there are other civilisations out there, somewhere in the Universe, and like us they are looking at Earth and occasionally send out scouting parties to see what we are like.

If sentient alien beings have the ability to travel to Earth from millions of light years away, I think we'd be screwed if they wanted to start a fight. lol.

They probably have lazerbeams of death pew pew pew

Therefore, why waste money on earth defenses if in the end, we would get pwned anyways?

the invasion has already begun. aliens have been sowing their genetic seed among hundreds of thousands of species over the past few millions years, getting better and better results with each reaping. eventually, they will activate the dorman alien genes in the various species they have helped to create and evolve, and a whole new species will spring forth. a species that will dwarf us in strength, stamina, longevity, and inteligence. this new species will know... possibly through some genetic coding... what they are to do and where they are to go in order to prepare for the final stage of this world's iminent doom. the only weapon we could possibly have against such a devistating process would be to completely disassemble the human genome, find the genetic resequencers, and iliminate them. then, and only then, will we be safe from take over. at least... for the next 30 million years or so.

I believe we are in more danger from a rouge asteroid hitting earth. That at least has happened before on multiple occasions. Yet we do not have a plan to deal with that.

If they have the technology to build intersteller space ships, then chances are we could not stop them anyway. Of course this assumes that martians exist, they have a much more technolgical civlization than we do, they know where we are, and they want to fight us.
