Can female dogs be born without a utureus and ovaries?
hi ive recently had to give me female pup to a new home:( She was 61/2 months when she went and i never had her neutured. She is a rhodisain ridgeback and had a great pedgree from respectible breeder. The new owners decided to get her neutured and when the vet opended her up all there was, was scar tissue so it looked liked she had been neutured. I phoned the breeder but they had no clue i thought that they were puttin me off a bit though. Ive had this pup from 12weeks and saw her at 9weeks. So is the breeder not tellin me sumthink or could she be born without her bits?
Thanks and best wishes Kim

It is possible, but mutation like that wouldn't explain the scar tissue.
If she was born deformed, there would just be normal flesh were the organs should be, not scars. Scars form when somethign is removed. Most likely, the breeder has done something and doesn't want to admit it. It's possible it was an honest mix-up and he doesn't know of anythign himself.

The Vet would know if the dog had been operated on.
It is possible to be born without certain organs, obviously some more life threatening than others. If the vet the opened up the dog never mentioned any previous operation then it's likely the Breeder is telling the truth

Almost certainly. Humans can have a condition called Turner's Syndrome when they only have a single X chromosome and no other sex chromosome at all and when this happens, they appear to be female but have no uterus or ovaries. When this happens in humans, there is what looks like scar tissue where the ovaries would be. Since the basic form of the body, and this would include dogs as well, is female and the male body develops from a female form in the womb, a "sexless" animal will usually seem to be female. I am almost sure this is what's happened, but i couldn't swear to it because i am a herbalist for humans and not a vet, so i have a doctor's education and don't know as much about the health or bodies of dogs. But i would be prepared to bet that this is what's happened.

I agree with the others, being born without her reproductive organs wouldn't explain the scar tissue. Seems like she's been operated on before.

i agree. i think something was done to the pup. there should be no scar tissue if it were just a birth defect. scar tissue is caused from haveing surgery. sounds awfully strange about that breeder. if she had been fixed that was very young to have had it done.
