LDS - Does Alma 11:43-46 contradict 1 Corinthians 15:35-50?

Alma 11:43-46 says we will be resurrected with a physical body.

1 Corinthians 15:35-50 says we will be resurrected with a spiritual body and flesh cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven.

How do you reconcile the two, or do you believe 1 Corinthians 15 is not translated correctly or what do you think about these?

Thanks.

Actually verse 45 (in Alma) says this:

45 Now, behold, I have spoken unto you concerning the death of the mortal body, and also concerning the resurrection of the mortal body. I say unto you that this mortal body is raised to an immortal body, that is from death, even from the first death unto life, that they can die no more; their spirits uniting with their bodies, never to be divided; thus the whole becoming spiritual and immortal, that they can no more see corruption.

We interpret both scriptures to be saying that the resurrection transcends the corruption of mortality and that the end result is a perfect, immortal body of flesh and bone. Remember, that when Christ was resurrected, He had a physical body.

A Spiritual body is not necessarily a lack of physical properties. It is paul's way of explaining the difference between the mortal corruptible body and the immortal body which is free of corruption. As LDS we have always been taught that when we are resurrected we would be raised with the "essential elements" of our physical bodies and that they would be "changed" from mortal to immortal. When Jesus was raised from the dead and suddenly appeared to his apostles in the upper room. they were frightened and some thought maybe they had seen a ghost.

36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?

39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.

41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?

42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.

43 And he took it, and did eat before them.

    Alma 11:45

Now, behold, I have spoken unto you concerning the death of the mortal body, and also concerning the resurrection of the mortal body. I say unto you that this mortal body is raised to an immortal body, that is from death, even from the first death unto life, that they can die no more; their spirits uniting with their bodies, never to be divided; thus the whole becoming spiritual and immortal, that they can no more see corruption.

Did you not read that? Because it says the mortal, ressurected body, becomes a spiritual and immortal body.

Phil. 3:20-21: 20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ:

21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Matt. 27:52-53: 52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Ezekiel 37:12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

Luke 24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

So... all of these in the bible show a physical resurrection, as well as a spiritual one. If Christ can have His body back after Resurrection, why not us?

Do you believe Jesus was resurrected in his own body?

Flesh and blood can't go to heaven. But an exalted body of Flesh and Bone can.

the LDS believes the Bible is full of errors (surprise surprise) therefore the Book of Mormons takes authority.
