Not doing sports affect the colleges I get into?

Im currently a junior in high school and have done cross country the last two years, and plan to do it next year, and have done track my freshmen and sophmore year. Now im debating on how much it will affect my chances of getting into college this year. I do pole vaulting but last year i never wanted to go to the practices and wasnt motivated because i personally wasnt having fun or enjoying the sport. So far i have had straight A's in IB and volunteer at a nearby hospital. So my question is if i dont do track all four years, is it going to hurt me?

Unless you plan on getting a scholarship from sports, it really does not matter. Just keep doing what you're doing. You'll be fine.

Source(s): I never played sports in high school and graduated from college.

Not at all. You seem to be doing really well. You even might want to do another exterciricular like drama or debate. Something to make you more well rounded.

However, I would encourage you to continue with at least one sport (cross counrty). Colleges like to see that you're devoted to something. Staying with cross country will give you something to write about in your essays and will make you look very devoted. But, I would also recomend joing anouther club (Ballroom dance, choir, student governement, drama). Some of them might seem off of what you're interested, but you might as well try!

But, really, you seem to be on the right track! Good grades, volenteer work, and activities! You're doing great.

Only your chances at a football scholarship. Your volunteer work is more important, as well as grades. good luck, peace
