Do you think there is a link between the basic driving test and the high death rate of teenage drivers in USA?

One of my two step-daughters just got her learner's permit recently. I have never had much faith in "driver's ed" in schools. There needs to be much more training and education before these kids start driving. Of course, the best education is actual experience, but still, you need to start off with more knowledge than these kids are getting! I wouldn't have any problem whatsoever with having the age limit increased to 17/18. It sure couldn't hurt! As far as the test itself, it's so easy that any fool could pass it. I think they intentionally make it easy so they can license as many people as they can, thus 'earning' all this money from license fees, car taxes, highway use tax, and on, and on.

you have several questions here. Sadly there is a statistic that indicates that there are as many "committed chrisitian teens" who become pregnant out of wed lock as non christian teens. This may indicate one to two things- that those who are chrisitians do not apply their christianity to their sexuality or that they do not take birth control meassures because 'premeditated sex" seems more of a sin to them than being swept away by the moment. An opinon on your other question about people in jail in the US- the countries you mentioned have very strick, consistantly enforced gun control laws. In my state in the southern US, I can purchase and assault rifle at a gun and knife show with waiting or showing any ID. Add cheap liquor to that you have people who will end up in prison- because we have the right to bear arms , we also get the "right" to get stupid and shoot each other.

The states keep handing out licenses like candy to under prepared people. The lack of knowledge many drivers have is seen in the way they drive, and they immature ways they respond to other drivers.

the driving test does need to be longer. but I also think there are several other factors. in Illinois they just raised the requirement from 25-50 practice hours. also I think many parents just sign off the hours without actually diong the practice.

No . the high USA death rate is partly due to driving on the right which is only correct for left handed people.Most people are right handed.

When changing gear in a UK car with the steering wheel on the right , this is of course correct in the UK etc for driving on the left--------your left hand changes gear and your right hand stays on the steering wheel, (this is safer for right handed people.)

Right handed people who are also "right eyed" have the traffic coming toward them on their right in left hand driving areas , which is the way "right eyed" people are able to react better

When I reverse out I hold the steering wheel with my right hand and look over my left shoulder to the rear window. In a USA car you must hold the steering wheel with your left hand and look over your right shoulder to look out of the rear window.. So you must reverse with your left hand on the steering wheel.. Or stick your head out of the window if you want to use your right hand on the steering wheel. Or use side mirrors---Dangerous for the 82% right handed majority.

Mounting a bike in the UK is done from the sidewalk by right handed people who find it easier to put their right leg over the bike. , Much safer and this must have saved many lives.

of course if they didn't drive so many wouldn't be killed
