I found a mouse in my BBQ Grill. How can I keep them out?

I keep my grill outside, and I keep it covered with one of those vinyl grill covers.

Today I took the cover off, and I noticed what looked to be mouse turds all over the little side tables. Upon further inspection, I found the mouse underneith the side-burner cover. I turned the burner on, and the little guy with singged whiskers came out and ran across the hot grill, eventually finding his way off and ran away.

I obviously cleaned the heck out of the grill.

My question is, how can I prevent mice from making my BBQ grill a home? I dont think I want to have poison around food... but I dont want mouse turds or pee around my food either. I cant really use traps, because the bait would attact ants and other insects, since this is outside.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Cover the whole grill completely with a big plastic sheet...

As well as shelter, pixie and dixie enjoy an abundant food source and privacy. After a good barby session, let the fire stay on for a bit to burn off grease and sugary BBQ sauces that have dripped. Even they don't enjoy charred ash. Then embrace your inner beast and light that bad baby up more often, not from time to time! You'll attract better women that you won't need to kick out. And if they're into cats, they'll help take better care of them so the cat itself doesn't make issues due to neglect or bordom. Rumor has it that more than Pixies whiskers got singed and for that reason Dixie won't come around looking for him there. Untill she shows up again looking for another friend to play with, (the grill is inhospitable now) you'll have something to lay the blame on for the taste in your mouth.

Place the feet/wheels of the BBQ in pans and keep them filled with water. Add a little chlorine to the water to keep mosquitoes from breeding.

Keep your grill clean and in the future you can try the sticky glue like traps.

    Cheers,
