How often should a cast be changed?

A friend of my sister's is getting her short arm cast changed every two days. Why would this be happening? Shes only had it on for about two weeks.

this is excessive. I would think a young person should only have their cast changed once during the time their arm should be in a cast. An adult shouldn't have to have it changed (again my opinion). She needs to keep it dry and most importantly, not use it as a weapon. Not to say she does, but I had a client once who did this and damaged his cast on purpose to get a newer, harder one.

A cast needs to stay dry...if it get soft and wet it needs to be changed...my son had his on for 8 weeks before he got it changed. The key is to keep dry use bags and tape take baths instead of showers and keep it out of the rain. ..

    GOOD luck

if you have it for 6 months you need a new 1 in 3 months.its half the time you have it for.
