With 2007 drawing to a close, how about the Y! Hockey Section awards?
While the NHL had their pomp and circumstance over the summer, I've decided to give out awards to the regular posters here on Yahoo! Hockey. Over the past year I have met many wonderful people here, and established new friendships. Of course, our common bond is the great sport of hockey. Based on the NHL awards, who would you vote for in each category?
Yahoo! Hockey versions of:
Hart Memorial Trophy (Y! Hockey MVP)
Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (Most Gentlemanly/Ladylike Contributor)
Calder Memorial Trophy )Y! Hockey Rookie Of The Year)
Art Ross Trophy (Most Points)
Bill Masterton Trophy (Awarded to the contributor who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey)
NHL Foundation Player Award (Awarded to the contributor who applies the core values of hockey to enrich the lives of people in this community)
Top U.S. based contributor
Top Canada based contributor
Have fun with this one! :)
got derision- Lol!
New award- The Jeremy Roenick/Brett Hull Award (Given to the contributor who has kept the community in stitches with their wit, word crafting, and sense of humor)
Thanks for the responses thus far. Thank you everyone for the kind words for each other. In fact, if I were the Pope, I would nominate Erica for sainthood (patron saint of...Jude-ism?) for being classy towards a few trolls that made their way on the hockey section.
Thanks also for the compliments towards the questions! :)
cme- Thanks for asking about my grandfather. He has his bad days, but otherwise he is okay. In fact, I will be visiting him for Christmas this season. It will be the first time in ten years I spent Christmas with him, and obviously the first time since his diagnosis that I will be there. I'm thinking about going to see the Canadiens with him while I'm in town (at the suggestion of my grandmother, which would be a good idea).
Pricehillsaint- Yep. You still qualify for next year's Calder. Blues fan, right? Why haven't they named a captain yet? I was pretty sure Barret Jackman was going to wear the "C" this season.

HART - SNOOP! Can't argue with what Erica said. You ask the best questions.
LADY BYNG - CME again I agree with Erica. The dude is unflappable and has out done me on most nights.
CALDER MEMORIAL - (tie) Haley and Green - they both have a sense of humor and a knowledge of the game
ART ROSS - LITY
BILL MASTERTON - Chris - they trashed his account and he still kept fighting and came back.
Honorable mention to Copas for sticking around even though most people including me are trying to move his team.
FOUNDATION PLAYER - CYRENAICA - I have to double check if he's answered anything about the game's history before posting because once he has, that's the final word.
TOP U.S. - ZAPCITY
TOP CANADA - BOB LOBLAW - love him or hate him he keeps it exciting. Sort of our own little Sean Avery.
(I tried not to have any repeat winners so you'll all get your cheques. i put them in the mail.)
This also doesn't mean I don't value others contributions BTW. You All keep me busy at work on my slow nights.
Thnx 4 that.

Hart - LITY, heads above the competition on this one.
Lady Byng - Dual winners. Erica, the girl's got some game and she'll pick you up afterwards. AMDD, got a feeling she'd apologise for knocking you down in the first place.
Art Ross - PuckDat, he's got 20 some million points for a reason.
Bill Masterton - Snoop, played through certain distractions to keep the quality questions coming. (how is your grandfather doing, hanging in there I hope)
NHL Foundation Award. Cyrenaica, quality, to the point and personable.
Calder - Joe B, keeps his rookie status in perspective.
Norris - (you missed it, but what the hell) 288, seems like a stand up guy, sometimes defensive.
Top US contributor - Again dual winners - Copas and Awesome Bill, both have a talent for getting off the quick shots (reminds me of an old girlfriend I had once)
Top Canadian - Gotta go with that Art Ross winner, PuckDat
Source(s): The Jeremy Hull Award huh, I get a lot of laughs out of Komiserik .... never know what he's going to say. - The Big BoxLv 61 decade ago

HART - SNOOP! Someone should get you some ice for your back, 'cause you've been carrying the hockey section with your questions!
LADY BYNG - CME, for ALWAYS having a sense of humor! He takes the high road by keeping the mood light.
CALDER MEMORIAL - HALEY! She came here more recently, but she came in very solid! Great trivia questions. Has a great sense of humor as well.
ART ROSS - LITY! Pretty self-explanatory. :)
BILL MASTERTON - PUCK! It takes a lot of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication... to be a Leafs fan! :P Just kidding, but Puck answers a lot of questions, and gets a lot of violation notices. Yet he still hangs around. And doesn't flip out about it. :)
FOUNDATION PLAYER - CYRENAICA! Knows trivia like no other! He's a wealth of knowledge.
TOP U.S. - ZAPCITY! He's certainly a wealth of knowledge as well. He always has well-thoughtout opinions, too.
TOP CANADA - BOB. Flyers game tomorrow... no praise for Loblaw! :P (Bob knows I respect him... for everything except his team preference!)
I nominate MIKE for the VEZINA, for all his Patrick Roy manlove. LOL.

Source(s): Most missed-Zam. He's coming back soon right? - trombass08Lv 61 decade ago
Hart: LITY, hands down
Lady Bing: Well, it's definately not me. I've cussed out too many people and took on others, winning and losing a few battles. I'll say Erica.
Calder: How far back are we going with this one?
Screw it, I'll just nominate myself.
Art Ross: I think I'd give this to PuckDat just 'cause he got over 27,000 since February (not sure how many of those were hockey but I'm pretty sure most of them were)
Masterson: Kind of hard not to say LITY here
NHLFPA: Snoop
USA: LITY
Canada: Bob Loblaw
Added: Mikey loves Patrick!

reality is the fly is right lity takes most of them hart, calder, ross, players award, and due to dual citizenship both us and canada top contributer
cyn gets masterton in running for players and lady byng
cme also gets strong look at players
byng is hardest but erica, haley, jenni all seem to politest
though i would like to create a couple awards
snoop award this award is given to user who post regularly the most thought provoking questions (not a kiss up)
im thinking some kind award honoring puckdat and cme is in order also ... giveing most info through humor or sarcasm award.
