Jesus descended to Hell in apostles creed, supported by Scripture?

The apostles creed states:

"I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen"

I searched each of the Gospels and I don't see evidence of this. Can anyone enlighten me?

The Bible writer Luke recounts: “Neither was [Jesus] forsaken in Hades [hell, King James Version] nor did his flesh see corruption.” (Acts 2:31) Where was the hell to which even Jesus went? The apostle Paul wrote: “I handed on to you . . . that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that he was buried, yes, that he has been raised up the third day according to the Scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4).. Hell is Not Hot, its the Grave of Mankind.

Jesus Christ was in “hell” (Ha′des or Sheol) for parts of three days (Nisan 14-16, 33 C.E.). As Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10 tells us, while he was there he was conscious of nothing. He found no work, reason, wisdom or knowledge there. Though really dead, he was as if he were asleep, inactive, unaware of everything. That is why the Christian apostle Paul writes concerning Christ’s resurrection from the dead: “But now Christ is risen from the dead, the firstfruits of them that sleep.” (1 Cor. 15:20, Douay) Truly, then, the resurrection benefited Jesus Christ, who was dead in “hell” (Ha′des or Sheol). And for that reason the resurrection is purposed by God the Almighty to benefit all the rest of the dead in that “hell.” Jesus Christ was merely “the firstfruits” of those sleeping there in death. The full crop of the human dead will be awakened and be brought forth in God’s appointed time. This is the key idea in the inspired words of the apostle Paul:

“For by a man came death, and by a man the resurrection of the dead. And as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all shall be made alive.”—1 Cor. 15:21, 22, Douay)

a prayer I say states: " He descent to the dead where He comforted the saints of the Old Law and led captivity captive. Taken from The 30 days NOVENA PRAYER TO THS BLESSED VIRGIN MARY. the book author is Janice T Connell.

I just wanted to know if maybe the Old testament had a reason for Jesus to do that before ascending into Heaven to be with Almighty God the Father. Any Clues?? Why would we say this in a prayer ,if there is no meaning of it??

More correctly, Jesus descended to the abode of the dead, where the souls of the just were waiting to be freed from captivity, and taken to heaven. These were the "captives" that Isaiah spoke about, which would be freed by the Messiah. For the record, Jesus never sinned. He never spent a moment in what we know as the eternal hell, which was prepared for Satan and his angels, and he didn't pay the full price for everybody's sins. Jesus destroyed Satan's dominion over mankind. Jesus became the new and sinless head of all mankind. Jesus gave man freedom, and his Father offered mankind forgiveness for sins, per Jesus' request. All who faithfully accept Jesus' free gift of salvation and are baptized, may be saved. All others remain dedicated to Satan, and will likely share in Satan's eternal fate.

Several words get translated as 'Hell"

    Sheol

In the King James Bible, the Old Testament term Sheol is translated as Hell 31 times.[9] However, sheol was translated as "grave" 31 times.[10] Sheol is also translated as pit three times.[11]

    Gehenna

In the New Testament of the KJV, Gehenna is always translated as Hell.[12]

    Hades

The KJV translates Hades as "Hell" 10 times,[13] and as "grave" once.[14] Hades is traditionally the Greek word for Sheol.

    Tartarus

The KJV translates tartarus, which appears only in II Pet. 2:4, as "Hell".

    Abaddon

The Hebrew word Abaddon, meaning "destruction", is sometimes used as a synonym of Hell.[15]

    Infernus

The Latin word infernus means "being underneath" and is often translated as "Hell".

Because of the translation preference when scripture refers to Jesus being "in the tomb" three days, the writers of the Apostles creed continued the idea that "God went to the place of punishment and death, rose above it and conquered death."

    God Bless

    Ephesians 4:9-10

(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Epehsians 4:8-10 is proof that Jesus descended into hell and took captivity captive. His reach is beyond our imagination- because He freed those that went to hell before His life and ministry.

He went somewhere for three days (more like 60 hours if you read carefully - late Thursday afternoon to dawn Sunday) Mormons believe that He went to those righteous spirits awaiting Resurrection and organized them to go teach among those who died without hearing the gospel.

hell is a reference to any place other than heaven, when it says he decended to hell, it was the place of the old testament saints, the bosom of abraham, where Jesus preached to the spirits there, as you know, in hell there is no release as would signify the prision as a place where there is release. comprendae?
