  • Adoptees: anyone not completely bitter ?

My wife and I are in the process of adopting a baby boy. His mother had a stroke while she was pregnant and will unable to care for herself or the child.

I have been looking on Y!A and it seems the majority of posts come from young people who are quite bitter about being adopted.

Is there anyone who actually had a good experience being raised by adoptive parents? Does it get better over time, maybe some of these posts are from angry teens placing blame on the adoption itself?

Would it somehow be better for children to be kept in a situation of neglect/abuse?

I'm not trying to belittle the situation by any means, I just hope my son does not feel the pain I see in many of these posts.

  • Searching for a passage?

I'm searching for a passage that says something about 'do not tempt the spirit...'?

Its in the context of don't expect the Lord to do something you are perfectly capable of doing yourself.

    Thanks

  • Jesus descended to Hell in apostles creed, supported by Scripture?

    The apostles creed states:

"I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen"

I searched each of the Gospels and I don't see evidence of this. Can anyone enlighten me?

  • Why do people say it took 2 years for the magi to visit Jesus?

The story goes that they saw the star in the east and came to king Herod and asked where the child was. No one knew so they searched and when the Magi found him they worshipped him and gave him the gifts.

I admit it had to have taken some time but many people claim it took two years. How do they come to that conclusion?

  • Can we 'see' the same distance in every direction?

I know the most widely accept theory states that the universe is roughly 15 billion years old. This is accomplished by the fact that the most distant objects we can detect are approximately 15 billion light years away. but if we can see objects that far away in every direction then that means either the earth is at the exact center of the universe or there are other things beyond that point which we can not currently detect.

That's just something that has bothered me about cosmology.

  • Creative Zen, renaming files?

I have a Creative Zen V, I ripped and copied some audio files on to it and then I renamed them. The renames are correct in the media organizer but on the player itself it still has the old names.

Its really irritating. Is this a bug in the software or did I do something wrong?

  • How did you treat Anna Nicole?

I for one looked at pictures of her naked body, ogled her huge breasts and cast derision on her life choices. I made fun of her. I feel very sad now that she is dead. I feel that in a way I contributed to her very tragic life, and I am ashamed. Does everyone else remember that she also had an infant daughter who will never know her mother?

May God grant you peace, Anna Nicole.

Forgive me for the way I treated you.

  • Do you find it difficult to answer some of these questions seriously?

I mean, come on! The Singles and Dating category is especially lame sometimes. "my boyfriend of 2 days cheated on me and now he is going to jail for 50 years, should I stay faithful to him anyway? I really love him." that's how bad they are sometimes.

  • Is it possible to give corporations a conscience?

The only force for change a corporation faces is the need to increase profits. this of course leads to invariably immoral choices made by corporations. Is there anyway through legislation or other means to give incentive to corporations to actually keep the common good as a priority?

I think they have some pretty cool ideas. I like the 'alternate realities' cards better than the straight timeshifted cards.

  • A new definition for anal retentive?

My three year old daughter has developed a very disturbing behavior in the past few weeks. She holds in her bowel movements for days and even weeks! Inevitably when it finally comes out it is a huge, rock-solid ball that is extremely painful for her. fearing the pain, she again holds it the next time continuing this vicious cycle.

Has anyone ever heard of this? I must say as a parent, of all the things I have had to deal with in raising her, this is really the first thing I am completely at a loss on how to handle.

Anybody else ever delt with this?

  • How necessary is it to change water often?

I got some chemical stuff that i put in that said it decreases the need to change the water to about every 6 months. I have continued to test the water regularly and every thing seems in balance. I even had some swordtails that had babies recently (one of which was even able to survive, yay!).

    Is this stuff relieable?
