Did anyone else get a 'Wired' magazine?

'Wired' is not a magazine I hunt down to read. Sure, they had that article on Manga a couple of months back, but it's like the billionth most popular magazine on my list.

Imagine my shock when the latest issue turned up in my mailbox WITH MY YAHOO NAME on it.

It opens the door to more questions:

1) If Yahoo! did this, shouldn't I have a choice of which magazine I would like?

2) If Yahoo! did this, shouldn't I have gotten a little note, telling me this? ("You have been such a great member for us, you are getting a one-year free subscription to 'Holistic Rhinoplasty', with our complements!")

3) If Yahoo! has my information, who ELSE has my information?

It's bad enough I get e-mail spam from "hot Asian sluuts" or "75% off Viagra!" (I assume, because I am hanging around the hot Asian sluuts) or some Nigerian oil minister needs my bank account to free up a bajillion dollars (and I'll get what's coming to me), that Yahoo! is adding to it.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Update:

It is the December 2007 issue "Your Life: Decoded"

Update 2:

Ahh, Mr. Peachy, well, I had to ask at sometime, this was confusing me and no one has been able to help me in regards with the Brazilian Variant Ariel dolls

Update 3:

I am getting just enough interest to warrent extending it a few more days. Tell all your friends!

Update 4:

Yup, and I just got the January 2008 issue in today's mail ("100MPG!")

Hi, you may remember our Best Answers Sweeps from this summer, or if not the name you may remember that we were giving out ten iPods to members who earned best answers in the Consumer Electronics or Computers & Internet categories.

All members who entered the Sweeps and were also a Top Contributor in either of those two categories automatically earned a free 1-year subscription to Wired magazine. We notified each of the iPhone winners, but since the Wired magazine subscription is automatic for anyone who registered and was a Top Contributor, there wasn't any additional notification.

We didn't give out member information to anyone as part of this Sweeps except when necessary to send a prize. I hope this helps explain the subscription, and congrats on staying a Top Contributor!

Hey, I don't see why not, I think everyone like magazines. I think it's a pretty cool and unique idea...most people get crap like a pair of champagne glasses (that's what I got last time I was in a party). I have never used them again and am now thinking of getting rid of them. I did have one thing to add though. Do you know everyone well enough to personalize the choices more? I mean, maybe every guy wants Maxim, but I certainly would prefer any one of many other magazines...just make sure you don't stick with something that they may not want. I'd rather get Scientific American magazine.

You are now wired to Wired for being a Top Contributor. The ipod is much better - of course it is. You might receive one if you dislodge Judas Rabbi. lol

l was hoping you'd ask a philosophical question only the likes of your intelligence could answer. Am l so glad you didn't :-)

P.S. My daughter is so hooked on Ariel these days just like you. l buy her Disney Princess magazines whenever she's on the cover. l haven't come across that Brazilian doll you're talking about. l have my sights on the porcelain figurine that probably costs a fortune. Oh,well.

    Wired Magazine Account

    Yes, thank you for asking!

I've been wondering why I've received TWO Wired Magazines myself and never connected it to Y!A!.

I was just afraid they'd send me a bill!

    Steph-to-the-mother-effing K asked a question? No way...

Actually, I'll add to Jane's comment that she is right. I remember signing up for the Computers & Internet iPhone contest, & I also remember specifically UN-checking the option box for that 1-year subscription gimmick because I didn't want anymore junk mail like that in my mailbox!

Take care, stephen k. Ask again sometime!

Nope, But I'm a little shocked you asked a question. That is like 1 in a million for you.
