Have you ever tried to sing one song to the tune of another?

I had to do this last night at a church Christmas party. Small groups of 6 - 7 of us had to sing one song to the tune of another. We ended up singing Away In A Manger to the tune of Go Tell It On A Mountain. Let me tell you, it screwed my head up big time! One woman ended up with such a fit of giggles over the whole experience, she said she nearly wet herself. If you've never done this, give it a try.

I don't think I want to pee myself in front of a congregation in Church.

    1. For the most part, I do not like them. And I have heard covers that were amazing, but very few have surpassed the original, in my opinion. I would say that about 97% of the time I like the original better. 2. I believe that a band can cover a brilliant song and still sound okay with it, but all of the covers I have heard of brilliant songs just pale so much in comparison. So, I think they can be attempted, but I think that it would be very hard to make a good cover of a brilliant song. Everyone would be comparing it to the original. 3. I prefer that they put a whole new spin on it. I mean, if I want to listen to something that sounds like the original, I might as well just go listen to the original. I like to listen to a different take on the song if I am going to listen to a cover. I like to hear something new. I do not necessarily think that that is the only way it should be done, but I find it preferable...

Sure..do it all the time....Away in the Manger has several tunes that it's sung to. Try "Amazing Grace" to the WallyWally theme. It actually works.

If you've ever wondered what the "Metrical Index" at the back of the hymnbook is, it matches hymns that have the same number of beats per line. You can mix and match those tunes and lyrics. Have some fun mixin' and matchin'!

Sing Your Father Is Drunk! to the tune of: Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Oh you better not shout, you better not cry,

You better not pout, I'm telling you why,

    Daddy's home and I think he's drunk

He's walking real slow, he slurs when he speaks,

I don't think he's shaved in two weeks,

Daddy's home and boy is he drunk,

He spent most of our money on Johhny Walker Black

and then he took the rest and lost it at the track. Soooo

You better not pout, you better not cry,

I don't like that look in his eye,

    Daddy's home and I think...

Daddy's home and boy is he......

Daddy;s home and he's really drunk!

That was funny!!! I go to a small church and our singing leaves a little to be desired, but, we try and even laugh at ourselves!!! I guess it doesn't matter, it's where the heart is!

Many times...I was in a Karaoke bar one night, and a lady was singing Abba's "Fernando". .....She got the lyrics crossed up, and it was an accident, but hilarious.......She sang "Now we're old and gray, Fernando....Since many years I haven't seen a rifle in your hands....Do you hear the drums, Fernando......Do you still recall the fateful night we crossed the Rio Grande........I can see it in your eyes, THAT YOU DESPISE THE SAME OLD LINES YOU HEARD THE NIGHT BEFORE"......................She went from ABBA to Frank Sinatra without missing a beat..............
