can you make rayon from used t shirts or cotton waste?
I would like to collect used cotton material and recycle it into a raw material that can be made into textile yarn.

Rayon is made from cellulose from tree pulp. I have seen rag rugs that are made from old cotton made into rags. Old yarn can be donate to schools for art. T shirts can be good rags. They used to unknit things during WW II ti reknit them. My mother knit bandages. There is retro clothing that uses scraps to make things. Chemically, there is not a way to use cotton waste for cloth. It can be used as stuffing. It deserves a look at though, to reduce our petroleum intake used to make all the man made fibers.
