Corrupt and black marketeers should be hanged in public ?
This was a statement made by the late Indian prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru in one of his speeches.
But when the entire internal security system including the judiciary (judgement givers) and police(implementers) is being accused of corruption at all levels how can a common man even hope of implementing Nehru's statement.
How is it possible for the common man to survive and sustain in a system that has lost entire ethical base and accountability to the people and thrives on rampant corruption ?
There is also a feeling among some people that corruption also triggers terrorism what do you feel about this, is it true/false.
The question is mostly focussed on current Indian scenario but may be applicable to other countries accross the globe so please feel free to answer.
Vijay, thanks. But Iam really seeking a practical solution irrespective of where it fits.
I would like to re-phrase this question so that : if we cannot trust our current judicial and political machinery to eliminate corruption then as citizens how do we work on cleaning these systems ? And does law mean anything apart from being a tool in hands of corrupt and wealthy ?

9 months back I had posted a similar question read this >> http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Av... I had mentioned a similar comment coming from the Supreme Court regarding publicly hanging the corrupt on the lamp post & my question was Do we have so many lamp post to hang all these corrupt people in India ? This question still remain open when we see so much corruption in our Indian society, every where we see, rather the Air we breath has also become corrupt, what can we do its most difficult for a common man to live in such corrupt society, the biggest culprits of this corruption are our beloved politicians whom we have elected & made our super bosses, mind you corruption can be controlled from top, if we throw all these corrupt politicians in the Bay of Bengal or Indian ocean we can be thinking of removing some corruption from the society, buts the guarantee that new politician we elect & make our bosses will be fair & will not get corrupted with time????

Basically, a person is punished in the public so that the people can laugh at him or something like that & he would be ashamed and not do such an act again. But hanging him in the public would not be a very happy sight. It would be useless even if he repends. He would be repending all his after life in hell which is not goin to benefit me or you.

I think there are very few answers in this world to questions like this. Like the evil, good exists too. I have seen it, I am sure you have too.
We live in much better times, but again we don't live in the best. We are getting rid of slavery, sati, dowry system... and so many more.
Change is constant they say. My only hope in life is that. The key to change is being positive. Let's all be aware of the situation, look for positive changes, and work towards it.
And the best way to impact this is to start in your own little eco-systems... your homes, your work places, your friends' circle, your social circles...
Why wait for the powers that be to make a change, let's start ourselves. We have survived so many generations, havent we. I am sure we will survive for better times.

I think the biggest problem that countries such as India and others such as that, is this.. there has been a history of keeping their populace ignorant and poorly trained in legal and civil matters.. most of the people in those countries are treated as cattle and it is all about controlling them with political power.. until there is a higher level of logic and a lower level of emotional reaction then there will always be a few who rule and a mass who fears them.

When the administration is itself hands& golves
with the black marketers and the corrupt officials how can you pronounce such verdict on
them . although they harm the growth and development of the society we cannot impose such punishments on them in a democratic set up we are not able to punish the hard criminals who have blasted our parliament till date what to say of these small crimes.let them go their way.the whole society has gone to shambles, after having opted for democracy.

Corrupt and black marketers should be handled by the public. Public should be given right to "Treat" these kind of people in public.
