He is a lock for the HOF. All he does is bat .300 with 200 hits every year.

The stats may not back it up, but I will say yes. The reason is that he is closely linked to the dominance of the Yankees dynasty and as consistent a performer as you get.
As long as people (and not BCS computers) are voting, Jeter is a first ballot HOF.

Yes. He played a huge role in the Yankees World Series Championships from 1996-2000. He is also hitting above .300, and he is one of the best shortstops of all time.

no absolutely not, i just dont believe that he is any where close to a good enough player to warrant the hall
he is good, yes, but not great, never was, never will be
a lot of other shortstops could have done what hes done if they had spent their whole carrers on those yankee teams
its easy to play well when surrounded but obscene talent
but look at last year, he didnt play that well in the regular season, he didnt rally the team with great play, posada and arod carried that team, and in the playoffs he didnt do anything

Yes. hardly hurt plays good defense and can hit to get on bases and plays well in the playoffs but knocking A-Rod but he did get hits and a ring for the Yankees already.

Being a huge Yankees and Jeter fan, I would say no. Jeter's value is in his stability, durability and leadership. At this point in time, his stats don't get him in (which is what the HOF should be based on). That's just the reality of it.
Having said that though, Jeter is still in his prime. If he stays healthy, he has a chance to catch Pete Rose's hits record, and he is the only one in MLB right now that has a chance. He will get to 3000 hits in a few more seasons (probably 3), and then he will be a proverbial "lock" to get in.

Definately. All-Time batting average is .317 and he's almost at 200 home runs, 1,000 rbi's, and will probably get his 2,500th hit.
