Gen 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created in the day that Jehovah God was making earth and heavens.
You assume "generation" means a living being, not necessarily so. Generation in the Hebrew means "history, birth".
Gen 2:4 - These are the generations of the heavens and the earth, when they were created,.... That is, the above account, delivered in the preceding chapter, is a history of the production of the heavens and earth, and of all things in them; the creation of them being a kind of generation, and the day of their creation a sort of birthday; (see Gen_5:1). (john Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible)
Gen 6:1 And it came about that men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them.
Gen 6:2 The sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were good, and they took wives for themselves from all those whom they chose.
Gen 6:3 And Jehovah said, My Spirit shall not always strive with man; in their erring he is flesh. And his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.
Gen 6:4 The giants were in the earth in those days, and even afterwards when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore to them; they were heroes which existed from ancient time, the men of name.
Gen 6:5 And Jehovah saw that the evil of man was great on the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the day long.
Gen 6:6 And Jehovah repented that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved to His heart.
Why do you assume they are not human? The text doesn't say anything about them not being human or coming down from anywhere. It is believed these "sons of God'" were descendants of Seth who intermingled with the daughters or offspring of Cain.

In Genesis the phrase "these are the generations....." is signatory, indicating the vessel used to document this portion of the book of Genesis.
Evidence in Genesis indicates that Adam spoke Hebrew. He could probably read and write Hebrew. The First Human language was probably Hebrew.
The phrase "sons of God" in Genesis 6 is referring to the descendants of Seth who began to date and have sexual intercourse with the children of the ungodly.
Everyone who did not descend from the line of Seth was destroyed in the Flood.

A plothole. Kind of like in the movies. Except for in a book that pretends to be true. Yeah...
