Jehovah's Witnesses ONLY please....?

Okay, I'm starting to lose faith. I'm an unbaptised publisher. My spouse goes to a worldly church. He and I debate/discuss the issue of the trinity all the time. However, this time, when I did research, I looked up Lord. Jehovah is the only Lord and Jesus is lord, is that not correct. I was always taught that when it referred to Jesus the first letter of "lord" was lower caps and when addressing Jehovah, the first letter was upper caps.

However, upon my own research, I've found that isn't the case. There were many times where Jesus was referred to as "Lord" and even in one scripture John 20:28 he was referred by Thomas as "My Lord and my God". I read further, but Jesus did not dispute that?

I misplaced my Watchtower Cd so I can research these scriptures, but to no avail.

Update:

Okay, someone mention the Lord being capitalized by the title. But in my search I found two scriptures. One called Jehovah "Lord of lords" and another called Jesus "Lord of lords". Please brothers/sisters, explain that one. I'm getting very confused.

Someone stated that my eyes are becoming open to learning that Jesus is God. That is not the case. I'm losing faith in God, period.

Update 2:

I came here to find fellow witness because it's midnight here. I don't want to call someone and wake up people to get help. I would rather seek other brothers and sisters that are already up and happen to be on here. Maybe I should continue to be tormented and not sleep at all tonight by not seeking out our fellow christians for help.

You critisize my being on this site in this place. But here you are, too, aren't you?

Update 3:

Hi, Bob. Thanks for the scriptures. I do know all of those. But my concern is the other ones I'm finding. That's why I'm tormented. Because I feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest.

I will NEVER believe that Jesus is God. But with these scriptures I'm coming across is causing me to doubt there is a God, PERIOD. (Because of all the conflicting scriptures I'm coming across.)

Jehovah was the only Lord prior to Jesus' human existence. There was no other being who they could properly call "Lord", because Jehovah was the only one whom God servants looked up to.

As the word of God, Jesus became the Lord, which often means master. This is why he is the head of the congregation and the leader over men, under the direction of Jehovah God.

Based on the authority Jesus was given, some did refer to him as my God, which was Thomas. Has this happen before with others?

Yes. In Exodus, Moses was the God of Pharaoh

    Exodus 7:1-2 (New International Version)

1 Then the LORD said to Moses, "See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.

2 You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country.

Moses wasn't actually a God, but as Gods messenger, he was given that sort of position.

When Jesus prayed to his Father calling him the only true God, Thomas was present.

    My dear sister,

The rule of Jesus as "lord" with lower case (l) and Jehovah upper case (L) applies when they are referred to in the same sentence so that it is clear who is being referred to.

If it is only Jesus being talked about, there is no need to use lower caps. Only when there are two "Lords", then the capital letters help in differentiating.

The same applies with the words He and His, when there are two "he's" in the sentence, the one with "H" refers to God, and the other to whoever else is being referred to.

Even if Jehovah is being referred to alone in a sentence, small "h" is used. That is because the NWT also follows the rules of grammar.

There is nothing special about those letters, after all it is humans who do the typing.

Using a capital L in Lord while referring to Jesus does not make him God.

    Hope that helps.

Speak to your elders. They are there to help.

  • Whatever your heart tells you is the truth. The truth does not let go and you cannot help but think about it over and over again. Religious issues between spouses should never be a lever for the evil one to break asunder what God has put together.

Peace be with you. Set aside your worries and place them in the hands of the Lord.

    Blessings to you barsh,

I know you said JWs only, and I am not a Witness, but my twin sister did study and was quite involved for years with the JWs. She invited me to her Bible studies and I did go to a few just to see what they were about. I decided that they were not true followers of Christ.

But, I will tell you that Jesus is the LORD and as John 1:1 says; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Now, how can Jesus be a 'god' if He is said to be God?

One of the reasons that the Pharisees wanted Christ put to death was that He allowed people to worship Him and believe that He was the Messiah. No one was warranted that type of worship except God the Almighty.

But, Jesus is just who the Scriptures tells us He is!

I pray that you will be led to Him and not let a false teaching guide you any further. Remember, we are told to examine all things - you must examine this religion and then ask God if it is right or not.

I did just that, and although I do believe that main stream Christianity is pagan and of false teachings along with their pagan celebrations and rituals, I don't believe that the JWs are teaching truth either. Because of their teachings about Jesus being a god, there not being a burning Hell, their founders false predictions of the 2nd coming of Christ, calling God a mistranslated name, that they are a part of the 144 thousand, that only elders can partake of the body & blood of Christ.

I pray that God lead you to Him and away from whatever teaches falsities.

    God Bless You

    I'm a Witness!

Jesus is called Lord. It is just a title. King David was also called Lord. Sarah called her husband Abraham 'Lord', etc.

This is just one of many verses that shows that Jehovah and Jesus are 2 separate people...

1 Corinthians 8:5-6 “For even though there are those who are called “gods,” whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,” 6 there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are, and we through him.”

Jesus himself said that Jehovah was his God...

John 20:17 “I have not yet ascended to the Father. But be on your way to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.”

Revelation 3:12 “The one that conquers—I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will by no means go out [from it] anymore, and I will write upon him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem which descends out of heaven from my God.”

So Thomas says to Jesus, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28). The Reasoning Book clearly states that we have no objection to making this statement to Jesus himself.

Why? Because the bible does indeed call Jesus a god...

John 1:1 “In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.”

Jehovah himself calls his Son a Mighty God...

Isaiah 9:6-7 “And his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace...The very zeal of Jehovah of armies will do this.”

This means that as a Jehovah's Witness, I can refer to Jesus as 'my God' also. However, there still exists a God greater than him, and that is Jehovah God, the almighty.

John 14:28 “You heard that I said to you, I am going away and I am coming [back] to you. If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.”

Such things are not typically referred to that way, particularly due to the confusion that has resulted fom the bogus trinity

    doctrine.

To be specific. Lord is capitilized when it is a title or a name. Therfore Lord Jesus Christ would be correct as would The Lord but the needs to be capitilized also.

  • The Bible clearly and unmistakably teaches that the Lord Jesus Christ is Jehovah God.

Not only have the Jehovah Witnesses tampered with the context of hundreds of Scriptures, but now they have brazenly moved into the Bible translation field.

Their reason for doing this? Why the King James Version is biased, they say. The Greek Scriptures of the New World Translation appeared first. Let us examine their rules, which were to over-come the bias of the King James Version. Claiming to translate literally, they became enmeshed in their own rules. One of the rules they set for themselves in the foreword is: wherever the Greek words "Kurios" and "theos" appear, they will uniformly translate these as "Jehovah." That is their rule! Upon coming to Phil. 2:9-11 they fail to translate "kurios" as Jehovah.

Why? It would read "and every tongue shall openly confess that Jesus is Jehovah to the glory of the Father." Coming across I Cor. 12:3 where "Christos Kurion" appears they allow "Lord" to remain. Why?

Because it would have read "and that no man can say Jesus is Jehovah, but by the Holy Ghost." You note, in both cases they broke their own rules, in order to maintain their bias against the deity of Christ.

Can you trust a translation like that? Who are the translators? The convention report of 1953 glibly says "it was authorized by the Creator." In 237 places they translate "Kurios" and "Theos" as "Jehovah", why not in 37 places where they failed to do so, leaving Lord stand? Read John 8:24 and Romans 10:9,10,13, Hebrews 1:8.

Edit: I am sorry that you're feeling confused, but God is always with you and He hears you. Keep trusting in Him and have faith keep praying. I'll be praying for you also.

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

I know it may be a bit wordy but please read it all.

The Holy Spirit is beginning to open your eyes to the truth. Jesus is God. I know I am not a JW but follow through with me for a minute. We both agree there is one God. Do you agree so far? We also agree Jehovah/the Father is God. Now we are told Jesus will be called Emmanuel which means God with us. We are also told He is a mighty God. So Jesus is a mighty God and God with us. If there is only one God and we see the Father is God. Now we see Jesus is God. Read in the book of Acts where Ananias and Sapphira lie. Peter accuses them of lying to the Holy Spirit in on verse. In the next verse he says they lied to God. So the Holy Spirit is God. Now we know there is one God yet the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit have all been called God. If there is only one God and all three are God there are two possibilities. There is one being known as God who exists at different times in the different forms. We know this is not true because the Son sits at the right hand of the Father. The Son prayed to the Father. The Son said the Holy Spirit would come and be with us forever. So we see the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit all exist at the same time. So now the trinity enters. One God that exists in three forms simultaneously. One God that exists as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit all at once. Three individual beings that are one God. This is the trinity. A completely true and accurate Biblical concept.

It does not matter if you will ever believe- because one day you will bow the knee and say Jesus Christ is Lord.- that is scriptural.

"Every knee shall bow, and every tounge confess that Jesus Christ is Lord."

    Source(s): Reality. What a concept!
