How much will I pay in rent?

Can anyone give me a good idea of what part I would pay for rent in a HUD approved or section 8 rental.

The rental is in panama city florida and is $575 per month!

Also does section 8 cover rental in trailers too?

Update:

I am on SSI and disabled and draw $623 per month!

Update 2:

Yes I lived there in PC Florida.

Update 3:

Not sure why the electric bill would be so high.

Update 4:

I would only want to live in florida I need to be in a warm state and it is a place I could enjoy the little things I can still do!

30% of your income, and they give you a credit for your utilities. I pay 164 a month, and pay my own utilities, most usually pay water, trash and sewage. Hey, it is really hard to live on that, I know, I'm only 717 monthly. Depends also on if it is a house or apt. Comlexes you get less of a credit, but a house, you get more of a credit, plus more credit on a 2 bedroom. But they have limits depending on the median income of your area about what your rent is added up with the utility allowance. Example, my limit is 644 with utilities included in that, the rent has to be less the utility allowance. Your rent 575, okay, if your allowance plus that is less than 644 and your landlord accepts sec 8, you can get it, but you also have to consider a deposit. In which usually, they will let you pay it out.

    575

49 -utility allowance (electric, apt. complex.)

    ______

    624. total.

So, I would be allowed to rent, after inspection of course, because it is below my limit.

    Hope that helps.

Yes, you can rent a trailor, it would be considered a single dwelling, a house etc. The utility allowance would be higher.

And as long as it is approved by HUD. They have to inspect.

They're not covering mobile homes anymore since Hurricane Ivan - Hurricane Katrina has clobbered the area.

Hope you've been to Panama City before you move there. Your electric bill in the summer will be $200 a month no matter what your rent is.

Northwest Florida is cheap but there isn't a lot of programs and resources like most other areas for disabled persons and the weather really sucks if you have any nerve injury problems

Source(s): been disabled 10 years and have lived in Pensacola

When I lived in a HUD project in a small town, I had a part time job that paid 7.00 an hour and I was a student and I only paid $25 a month for a 1 bedroom unit. Some of the elderly people and people who recieved SSI didn't have to pay anything and got a small check to put towards utilities.

If you are not really set on living in Florida, Oklahoma is one of the best states to live in if you are on a government income or fixed income like that - very very low cost of living especially in small towns.
